How do I find out what Catalyst I'm using ?

Hi all, sorry if these are stupid questions but i'm new to all this updating graphics driver.

1 - What is the CATALYST ?
2 - How do I find out what CATALYST i've got
3 - Do I really need to update my graphics/display drivers

When I have attempted to install CATALYST 5.3 the following error messages appeared :
- INF error ; video driver not found
- try to set up your display adaptor with a standard driver

I unistalled all ATI products I believe by going into ADD/REMOVE programs and clicked on ATI software unistall untility.

Cheers for any help it will really be appreciated.

cybermaxx laptop (medion)
intel 4 pentium 3.2ghz hyperthreading
768mb memory
ATI 9100 IGP graphics 128mb

System Specs

You can't install the desktop versions on you laptop....

the driver that came with you lap top is likely 8-12 months old if not years old, either way, not good

at this time you can only.....

try using the mobility modder http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/
try using the omega divers http://www.omegadrivers.net/ or other modded sets

Or stay with what you have if your not have issues or bugs
(of course there are allot of performance enhancements as well)

And, to answer your second question (finding which Catalyst you've got):
Download DriverHeaven ATI File version from here:
