Hi,
I'm running windows 7 32bit with a ATi mobility x300 in a Dell Inspiron 9300. I have been using catalyst 9.3 (no CCC) for a while but ran into some issues with Guitar hero world tour. I'm not sure if it has to do with the video drivers but I'd like to update them. I tried 9.6, 9.7, 9.8, 9.9, 9.10 after modding with mobility modder (latest version) but they don't work! 9.10 gives a bluescreen upon restart and the others say something about graphics card/driver not found upon restart... Also tried the "beta" 9.9 ati mobility drivers but they won't even install without getting modded (shouldn't need this) and then it behaves just like 9.6-9.9. HELP!??

Re: Help me update from 9.3! Nothing works
The mainstream Catalyst drivers no longer support the DX9 chips. Try the legacy drivers available here: ATI Catalyst? Legacy Display Driver
BTW, ATI said that they plan to release new legacy drivers shortly. |

Re: Help me update from 9.3! Nothing works
if hes gone through all those cat versions, that means hes been using the vista drivers, which have had dx9 support up until now.
that x300, thats not an agp card is it? cat 9.3 was the last set of drivers that supported agp cards. never mind that, i took a look at the owners manual and its a pci express motherboard. here we go, im willing to bet this was the problem. you tried installing the drivers you downloaded off the site, didnt you? you need to use this to get them to work on a laptop. http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php

Re: Help me update from 9.3! Nothing works
unless i dotn remember an announcement 6 months ago, as of 9.8, they dropped it. so 9.4-9.7, they would have it.
just what i was looking for. AMD has moved several DX9 only capable video cards into legacy status. The list of video cards now in a legacy support structure are noted on that page. These now legacy video cards will no longer receive driver updates in Windows 7. However, you can still use Vista drivers in Windows 7, of which the latest is Catalyst 9.8. This at least allows you to run them just fine under Windows 7, you just wonft see any more driver updates for them officially. This only affects the video cards listed on that page, and does not affect any DX10 and DX11 generation video cards

Re: Help me update from 9.3! Nothing works
They moved the to legacy status on 9.3. They did release later drivers, the latest 9.8 (and 9.11 should appear this month), but I don't think they're the same drivers, which is why I suggested going to the legacy driver download.

Re: Help me update from 9.3! Nothing works
Hi guys, thanks for the suggestions. I did use the mobility modder on all the sets that I tried. I BELIEVE I even tried the 9.8 legacy ones, which also failed. I guess I'll try those again...
