Connecting ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 to TV

Hello,
I bought a Dell Laptop (15.6") with a Mobility Radeon HD 4330. While using normal WIndows driver I updated to Dell's driver for M92. A friend told me this is my card, although I found the title confusing.

I also bought an adapter frpom VGA too cinch in order to watch movies on my TV. However, I was only able to get a dietsorted image with this. The picture is all black and white has fraying edges and only shows half of the screen twice. i tried all the available resolutions, but none worked.

Can somebody help me, please. Is there another driver I should download. Maybe one from ATI itself? The ones I found odn't feature the 4330.

Thanks in advance.
Andy

See for example the comment here: VGA to RCA RGB Cable - Cables N Mor, Inc

There's a chance that's your problem.

Re: Connecting ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 to TV

Thanks for the quick response. I don't think it's that. i used to connect with the same cable and an cince to S-Video adaper to my Computer graphics cards (an old ATI radeon 8500 and now an Nvidia geforce 5200) without mucxh problems aside from a lot of vertical lines with the nvidia card.

Can I test if the adapter is faulty or should I get a new driver. I have relly no idea what resolutions my TV supports, but I think it says 50Hz somehwere on the back.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

Re: Connecting ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 to TV

Resolution support depends on the adapter. Assuming you're using a PAL TV, your TV's actual resolution is 720×576 (perhaps more horizontally). I've seen 800x600 and 1024x768 displayed on such TV's. They're scaled down to fit the display. My guess is that if you're using anything higher it won't work.

Can you tell me what adapter you have?

It might be the adaper, but I don't want to spend more money on adapters, of which I can't be sure they work... I bought this one off amazon in Germany. and it connects (or should connect to cinch and svideo)

I think it was this one : Adapterkabel VGA-Stecker auf Cinch -Buchse und S-Video: Amazon.de: Elektronik
