exclamation Driver works once perfectly, but then only BSOD

First of all: Hello everybody, I'm Daniel. And my deepest thanks to you guys of DH for the Mobility Modding Tool.

@ my Problem
I own a ThinkPad X31 (Ati Mobility Radeon 16MB) on which I installed W7. I know it doesn't meet the specs, but so far the OS works fine and runs smoothly (no Aero of course - but who needs the anyway), despite the XP driver for the graphic card. Unfortunatly I can't run any 3D or direct draw apps for fear of BSOD.

After long evenings of research, I finally stumpled upon this site and the modding tool. I followed the instructions and got a working driver installed - but it seems to be a throw-away-driver. I can run one app after the driver setup and the inevitable restart. Any further apps will BSOD the Computer (complaining something about ati3duag.dll). I. E. I enjoy playing Sid Meiers Pirates (very old school game right after tetris) and it works perfectly fine for the first time. But any other app or even a second pirates session will get me a BSOD (ati3duag.dll strikes again).
I did some experimenting with Vista-drivers for Mobility 7000 and 9000 series, but it didn't work out. So I returned to the modded XP driver, which didn't work for even once. I did a clean OS setup (thoroughly formatting C: ) and it still won't work anymore. Not even once. Not with Pirates nor with Access Connections (IBM WLAN Manager). So please guys help me get back to looting the treasure fleet, plundering cities and dancing with lovely governour daugthers.
