Win 7 and mobility x1600

Hi there, i got some problems with running games with my Benq P52 with ati mobility radeon x1600 which has win 7 currently installed.

So problem is that whenever i start game it "freezes" on black screen and only way i can get out of it is restart.
I have had same problem on vista, but then i thought it was bad drivers.

After reading
Vista & ATI x1600 Mobility

i understood where is the problem (never ever going to buy anything made by Benq btw) so i want to ask is there any possible solution for this or i just have a) downgrade back to xp or b) forget about games?

Same thing here. Doe i tried to mod 3 drivers (9.3, 9.4 and so on) the drivers does not want to work. After 3 hours i reverted to the default driver from Ms. But after all this the screen saver that was not working before (the 3d ribbon) was working ....... so something was changed, but i do not know what.
And by the way: Benq is not to blame for this. There are tons of other vendors that have no support whatsoever for newer operating systems. Ati should give us the driver just like Nvidia does. Or to offer to Ms one good stable default driver. Instead we have to wait and see maybe they will take responsability for this. I just want to play wow (that's one not so resourcehungry game) in low details. Nothing more, nothing fancy.

I installed Win 7 on 3 machines in last week: X55sv (Asus), P52 (Benq) and one PC (with X1950, Barton, Asus mainboard, etc - good "old" PC). On the first one have no problems: everything was installed and after the nvidia driver was downloaded (by windows update) i had the nvidia CP !!! I did not install anything else and everything works fine. Same for the PC, but i had to download manually the driver and install (doe no CP for the X1950). Everything fine ...... Now for the P52 everything orks except the damn video driver....... And i got the impression that is not the Win 7 os fault ....... but one not so supportive Hardware maker (ATI / AMD).

So, i will wait for some kind of driver before givin' up on Win 7 on the P52.

Regards,
Gabe
