So I downloaded the 9.3 and modded it but would not install the driver on my 3650. 9.2 works but not 9.3.

Any reason why?

try this:

"ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3650" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9591
anywhere to the list below
[ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.0] in the CH_xxxxx.inf file
and
[ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.1] in the C7_xxxxx.inf file.

then try installing the driver without MM (you should download the driver and ccc seperately and install ccc after the dd is installed, like doing it when using MM as well).

no guarantee to work, but it could eventually, since it works on other os.

I'm suffering from the same problem, using an Ati Mobility Radeon HD 2600 on Vista 32 Bit, I too modded the 9.3 Drivers with the tool but they just won't install. What would be the lines I have to add to make it potentially work? Thanks in advance

Wonderful. It worked, thanks. One minor difference, the files were called CW*.inf and CL*.inf. But I just added it into those files instead and it worked like a charm.

btw. if somebody tries this way and has winxp (then only the cx_xxxxx.inf file has to be modified), eventually an error occurs while installing the driver afterwards. there are 2 ways to install it:

1. in device manager > update driver (ati card) > point to the .inf file
2. add ",0x####", where #### is the device id of the card found in the list from the link above to the end of the second line (turn off word wrap in notepad!) of the chapter under [WINXP] starting with "R6=DriverPath_R6" of both files
\ATI\SUPPORT\[Current Version]\Driver\Driver\CX_*****.INI
&
\ATI\SUPPORT\[Current Version]\Driver\Driver\INSTALL.INI

then install the dd the regular way (setup.exe)

i've got the same card than AMNEN, but it's still doesn't work!
(lenovo Y710, ATI RADEON HD 2600, Vista 32 bits)

I downloaded CCC & DD separately, i modified CL*.inf & CW*.inf

Another difference :
I don't see: [ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.0] or [ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.1] but [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.0] & [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.1]

but i suppose this is a minor difference...


After setup DD & CCC, it still doesn't work...
What could i do, please ??

[ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.0] & [ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.1] are for vista 64bit & win7

since you have vista 32bit and have [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.0] & [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.1]
, youve downloaded the correct driver.

first i would suggest completely uninstalling any ATI drivers/programs (dd, ccc, wdm, hydravision etc. - you can leave hdmi if you have it)

then download and extract the vista 32bit driver again and
copy the underlined line below exactly how it is under [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.0] & [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.1] in the two CL*.inf & CW*.inf files and watch out for spaces (ie. leave no space after 9581)

"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9581

then install dd and ccc without restarting in between! then restart and if the problem still persists, post exactly what the problem looks like.

I still don't understand...

Something strange: when i select "custom setup", i didn't see "Display Driver" in the list..., let's see what i have :

Microsoft Visual C++
Catalyst Registration (checked)
Word of warcraf... (checked)


Tell me if you have other ideas !

Another difference :
When i use the modder, i see the "ATI Display Driver" but, at the end, in the report, i see that the setup of Display Driver Failed...

i think theres a problem with something already installed.. did you have some other ATI drivers, ccc etc. installed before? or maybe other display drivers, like intel if you have an intel chipset?

do you have driver cleaner? it yould be best to run driver cleaner (in safe mode) and remove all the traces from every ATI product available in the list, whether you actually have it or not, and also other products you may have installed or had installed before.

if everything fails, i would say your vbios prevents you from installing drivers for the card that it thinks are not supported/permitted (by your notebook manufacturer) etc. sometimes notebook manufacturers do this by implementing "their" vbioses into the cards.


then only flashing it with an "open" vbios would solve the problems, if you dont mind breaching the warranty by doing that. or try giving ibm a call and ask them about your problem. if this is the case and theyre very very nice, they could give you a new/more free bios.
hp for instance often provides users with softpaqs for notebooks that make a big difference after enough complaints have arrived, many only when requested personally.

I followed your instructions, my GPU drivers installed perfectly, but i can't figure how to install the Catalyst Control Center. Can you, please, explain the process for CCC installation, with a bit more detail?

actually downloading ccc & dd separately and installing ccc the regular way after having installed dd should do the job.
what problem do you experience with ccc?

I tried to run the .exe, went for a custom instalation, but then it gives me no option for installing CCC. The available options are:

• ATI catalyst install manager
• ATI HDMI audio driver
• Microsoft Visual C++ redistr.

as far as i know the option of a custom installation is only available in the catalyst software suite.

you have to download dd & ccc separately, not the catalyst software suite and then only install them separately using custom install.

scroll down to "Option 2 - Individual Downloads" on the download page and download display driver & catalyst control center there. then extract both to the default location C:\ATI\Support... and break the installation up after having extracted them. then modify the files in the dd folder, install dd, DO NOT RESTART in between, install ccc, and finally restart.

I downloaded them seperately, extracted them seperately, modified the files for DD, installed DD via device manager, and then tried to install CCC (which gives me the "custom installation" option) but the CCC didn't install...

Well, i guess i have to get on without the CCC, although i'll miss the nice features of it.

Oh, and ATI is acting *censored word* for not giving us some Mobility Drivers (i had to say it)!

Edit: I forgot to mention that my OS is Windows Vista 32bit SP1! I'm sure it IS related to the problem.

i have currently no notebook with an ati card and vista available to try that out, and cannot use my main notebook (its xp anyway), so i have no clue anymore. but if the driver installs correctly and you can use the card, at least the essential part works.

i would suggest contacting your notebook manufacturers. especially the chat support is very recommendable, at least intel's and hp's from my experience.

i still think theres something (traces of previous installations etc.) preventing ccc from installing correctly, that should be fixable.

Hey all, I finally got 9.3 (CCC and driver) to work with my ATI Mobility Radeon X1200 in Windows 7 64-bit (Build 7057) ... I didnt use the modder program. Quakelive seems to be running fine without the flickering problem in full screen mode. Also the game is MUCH smoother than it was in Windows XP SP3 32-bit.

What I did:

1) As per OzzieXP's post I removed the 6.1 references in both of the .inf files (C7_77072.inf & CH_76829.inf).
i.e. changed anything that displayed "NTamd64.6.1" to "NTamd64.6.1"

2) Manually edited the .inf (C7_77072.inf & CH_76829.inf) with my device hardware information
e.g. "ATI Radeon X1200 Series" = ati2mtag_RS690, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_791F

you can find the device ID in device manager under the device properties...

This method works with one modification: if you have Windows Vista than change both C*.inf [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.1] to [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.0] and if you have Windows 7 than change all [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.0] to [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.1]. Then it will work.

Go to start --> run (or winkey + r) and put "winver" and enter. The window will show up and you'll se your windows version.
NOTE: you have to manually add the driver through the device manager (start -> run -> devmgmt.msc), setup won't detect it automatically.

Thanks a ton. I used the modified exe replacement file for mobility modder and it properly modded the new 9.3 drivers, I did not have to do any manual editing.

I couldn't get the 9.3 drivers to install on my notebook with ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 Vista 32bit using the manual methods mentioned in this post.

I had a similar problem with 9.2.

But I just used the normal process with the fixed exe and everything works!
