Which Drivers? Radeon Xpress 200M

Salute Mates! Will Omega drivers work in a Toshiba Satellite A105 with the Radeon Xpress 200M Series integrated graphics chip?

New to the forums but I've enjoyed the Omega Drivers for several years now.

I was trying to help the Better-Half clear-up a slow shutdown issue with her laptop. Seems to have become worse since sp3 for XP home. (go figure)

Soooooooooooooooooooo, why not check the display drivers just for grins. They should update when the Toshiba Update program runs, right?

Now I know that neither Toshiba/ATI support the chipset in her laptop. how nice. the drives are circa 2005! I realize that new drivers may not help her shutdown issues...but now i'm torqued after spending hours sifting through support forum drivel. I'll updat the d#&* drivers if if kills me.

Thx for the reply!

Re: Which Drivers? Radeon Xpress 200M

I also have a A105 (A105-2201 specifically) that uses the 200m, and I got the Omega drivers to work. I recently did a clean install of XP (no reason to run vista on this Laptop) and was looking for more recent drivers.

Also I had a little discussion with some ATI reps at a lan party in late summer of 2008, about why ATI's driver's don't work, and why Toshiba hasn't updated them. Basically I was told, due to some sott of contract... Toshiba has control of all drivers that can and will be released for thair systems, and ATI can't release a driver since toshiba wants to ensure complete control over their hardware (simular to how apple control's their's) but Toshiba hasn't been holding up their end, since they haven't taken ATI's driver and made a version (I am told it is about 30 minutes of coding to do so) for their systems. Basically I have come to believe Toshiba abandoned the system driver-wise after they finalized it and it was shipped. No profit in supporting a system after it has already been bought. So, in a few years when I am ready to get another laptop, I will end up avoiding Toshiba.
