Hello,
Greetings for everyone - as this is my first post here in DH. DH is a real knowledge base for anyone who tries to find a proper solution for his/her system configuration. I have a problem with Vista - which is nothing strange )I've been trying to upgrade my Pundit-R barebone from Asus (AB-P 2800, MB: P4R8L, NB: RS300, SB: IXP200). The system has build-in display adapter. It's 9100IGP. I've had some problems with proper instalation on Vista (RS300 and AGP manual instlation plus ati2dvag.dll and BSOD adventures issue) but after some modding it runs rather stable now. I've decided to upgrade the system using external grapics adapter. The choice was rather difficult as Pundit-R has only PCI extension slot (besides onboard AGP feature). I've bought Powercolor HD2400 256MB PCI card. The problem is that Vista returns "Code(43)" error message. I know the issue concerning driver architecture foundation in the OS on the MS tech-site (both drivers from the same manufacturer and the same type - i.e. WDDM or XPDM). In my case is rather confusing because ATI (and Omega) drivers stopped supporting 9100IGP chipset in 2006 (from Cat 6.6 on). In a result I cannot find the package that operates both on 9100IGP and HD2400. Another solution in Vista could be turning off Onboard graphics and choosing PCI card in BIOS. Unfortunatley I cannot find appriopriate setting in BIOS NB section and/or jumper/switch on the MoBo. There's only possible to select the priority there (PCI/Onboard graphics or vice versa). I would like to ask if anyone of us here has found the solution of this (or similar issue) - besides "Back to the XP"? Draft list of possible solutions would be sth like that: 1. To enable MoBo to disable IGP chipset - supposing the RS300 architecture has the option (earlier/further/third-party/modded BIOS file). 2. To enable/force Vista to accept two "different" drivers (to disable "the checking" feature). 3. To install driver (WDDM/XPDM) apprioprate for both chipsets - if there's any at large or somehow prepare it.Does anybody here has any idea how to resolve the issue? Thanks for any proposals and comments. Adam |

Re: Pundit-R: 9100IGP and HD2400 instalation problem in Vista
Hi Adam,
Similar situation here: pundit-r plus ati radeon 9250 card in pci slot - vista premium So far I get the 9100 to work and probably also the 9250. Only flaw in my case: I did not get the agp to pci bridge installed so far. Any hints about threads or info how to go about it? I recognize all your other issues, but currently do not have another suggestion. Chris |
