ive been reading the web and this forum for 2 days now trying to get this running..

my new notebook is the

asusM51
with
Intel Core2Duo P8600
Intel Chipset
Ati Mobility Raedeon 3650
4b ram
need any more info?

naturally it was delivered with working windows vista on it but thats the last thing i would usw..

so i tried windows xp and to my surprise i found all the drivers i needed except a working video driver

i was happy when i found the mobility mod, which didnt work for the 8.7 ati driver but it did work with the 6.6

as i said.. it did!

after 5 hours of working with the driver running i had to reboot the system after installing daemon tools.. and after that i got that bluescreen of death all the time.. i trief everything now !! everything!

all the omega drivers, all ati drivers until 8.4, ati's mobile driver shit using drivecleaner of course
and bluescreens all the time

0x00000050 and it says that the problem is in the file ati2mtag.sys


tried the "setup.exe" and installing via device manager which lead to more and more bluescreens with 0x00000050 or 0x0000007E and ati2.mtag.sys


i really really dont know what to do and im a little experienced with "new-pc-trouble".
do i have to fix something in the .inf?

so can anyone please help me?!

Hi *eugen - welcome to the DH forums.

You could try the latest Mobility Catalyst driverset for XP 32bit from HERE It's the version 8.7 - and you won't find it at ATI's regular site, but it is the real deal. The link is in the first page of posts in the sticky thread titled ATI Mobility Feedback in this same forum, thanks to CrossFire...

It's a good idea to go through the uninstallation procedures again before actually installing that driverset though...

but ive found a way to get it run!
seems chaotic but it works

i installed the unmodded omega drivers, then without reboot installed the modded 8.7 catalyst over them but without overwriting files.
after reboot it worked just fine..

still dont get it, gut thx for help

I know this thread is a little old but I came across the exact same issue and wanted to get a little assistance.

I am attempting to downgrade an ASUS M51T series laptop to XP Professional SP3. The video card drivers are my last bit of headache.

Between each of the tries I cleaned the drivers and software back off the system.

I tried Omega drivers but nothing happens after installation. The system still uses the generic VGA driver after install.

I used mobility modder on Catalyst 8.8 but I get blue screens after installation.

I tried mobility modder on Catalyst 8.7 but the system shows only a black screen upon restart. I thought maybe the resolution or freq. was out of range but found that no signal appeared on any monitor I plugged in.

I attempted *eugen's suggestion but got a bit lost at the "installed Omega drivers then installed modded Catalyst" part. Did you mean you ran the installers for both? And if so, how did you get the installer to not overwrite files like you mentioned in your post?

Anyhow, help would be appreciated. I've tried everything I can think of.

I had the same issue with my Sony Vaio. After hours of trying different video drivers, finally found one that worked.
