Having Issue with Acer aspier 1691

So i have an acer aspire 1691 , here are the specs

1.6GHz, 533 FSB, 2MB L2 cache -- Pentium M 730
15.4 Inch WXGA Crystalbrite TFT LCD
ATI X700 Mobility Radeon with 128MB VRAM
80GB HDD 4200RPM
CD Car-Stereo type loader that writes DVDs and CDs
512MB DD2 -- Dual-channel supported
802.11b/g wireless Lan
XP Home Edition
Various USB 2.0

Ok so , i used the recovery cd's and the machine started up , and i got the atidvag infinte loop error , i also have brown/yellow lines going down my screen , im thinking either the card is bad , the ribbon cable is bad or some other third problem i have not forseen.The system does not boot into windows , upon rebooting i get the command prompts for how i wish to boot safe mode , with dos etc , upon selectimg boot into safe mode i get

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)windows\system3 2\drivers
and a whole list of stuff

Suggestions , theories , thanks all

seeing
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)windows\system3 2\drivers
is normal, it's just windows telling you exactly what it's loading up in safe mode, just in case one of those files/drivers is causng the problem

what happens after you see this? does it lock up? reboot? BSOD?

ok so i reinstalled using a regular windows pro disc , windows loads fine except i have a blue screen with lines down the screen and no physical picture , so its narrowed down , windows loads fine boots ok , no picture i have vertical lines going down the screen and a blue screen no icons.... is it the video card or a flex cable oorrr?
update : runs in safe mode but i still have vertical lines across the screen , im gonna try installing newer ati drivers to get rid of this infinite loop

ok i got it to boot into main windows installing new ati drivers hopefully i dont get the loop of DEATH , i get picture fine , desktop backround its just the large amount of vertical lines going down , and when a white window comes up the windows becomes a dull yellow.Thoughts?

ok so windows loaded fine all system drivers running ok wireless works ok , still have major lines running vertical across my screen (bunches of 3-4 across the screen), im attempting to load ati drivers now

and INFINTE LOOP OF DOOM
im going to assume its a bad card
hey dj stick can i replace it with this
