??? What Omega driver would you recommend for replacing Mobility Radeon X1600 ATI

Hi all, great looking forum, and some great info found so far, although, Im not all that great with computers, and modding things, so upon discovering the Omega Drivers will work as a replacement for the Mobility Radeon drivers, I thought it best to ask here before downloading one I think will work.

I have downloaded the correct Radeon Driver from Acer, but upon reading a few things on these forums, it seems this driver is quite out of date, and that an Omega replacement would be a better investment. But which one.?

Im looking for the Omega equilivant for ATI Mobility Radeon X1600

I am looking at the download page now, but dont have a clue which on I need.

I have an Acer Aspire 5110 Laptop running Vista 32Bit.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Micky

What Microsoft patch didn't install?? If you are using Vista you don't need any. And if you would need you would get it via Windows Update....

Wow, thankds for the quick response.

Oh right. Sorry. It was mscml4-KB927978 which didn't install.
Yes, Im running Vista. All I need to know now is, which Omega Driver do I use, and how do I install the downloaded Mod program?

Thank you

Micky

Just to add. I have found the Omega drivers, but there is not a Vista 32Bit Radeon available, however, there is a nVidia one available, will this work?

Thanks again.

Ok, got the Mod program to run, and just browsing to my drivers under ATI, I found the following..

7-8 Vista32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_50974
7-7_Vista32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_52447
catalyst_8-31-100-3-2-1_vista32-64-rtm

Does the above sound right? Im guessing I have two drivers installed?

Would I be better off uninstalling both of these.?

Is this the correct replacement driver from Omega?

nVidia Omega Driver 2.169.25 (forceware 169.25)

You are using 64-bit or 32-bit Vista?
Anyway get the drivers from here : AMD GAME Drivers And Utilities

And read the instruction from here : http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool/
Yes there is a step by step guide at the end.
