How to make Mobility Radeon 7500 support OpenGL 1.4
Hi All,
I'm new here but I do meet a serious problem which I truly need a solution.
I use IBM T42 Laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 Video Card.
But when I install a software and try to run it on my laptop, a window pop-up saying:
Insufficient OpenGL support. ... requires OpenGL 1.4.
I searched online and noticed that OpenGL 1.4 is released on 2002 but I bought my laptop on 2005, which means that it should supposedly support OpenGL 1.4.
I also followed the instruction of Modtool ( http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool/), but it doesn't work, although the driver is updated.
So could anyone here help me out?
Thank you.

No, it doesn't, but laptop's, especially ones that aren't high-end, use older graphics cards. Your graphics card lacks hardware support for OpenGL 1.4, as do all the graphics cards in the Radeon R100 series, which includes your card. The Radeon 7500 was designed in 2001, a year before OpenGL 1.4 came out. It was, at the time, one of the best graphics cards availible for laptops, and as a result was still put in laptops in 2005 and probably still is used in laptops.
I don't think there is anything you can do, as the card lacks hardware support. Updating the drivers probably won't help.

I have spoken to the ASUS tech support and they say it is possible to get the opengl running but they wont tell me how, just that I need to unlock the vid card and to google it.
This is what ought me to this site ,

I can confirm braineater86's file works. It's a simple registry key that has the name of the opengl dll required... very awkard error that should be fixed! Anyways, after extracting if you want to be sure of the legitimacy of the file, just right click and choose Edit, it will open in notepad. And then just double click the .reg file and allow it to do its thing. Then simple OpenGL applications won't give you 2 FPS! Hope this helps as well.

Could you or someone else please host that file, or at least post the code? I'm sure many people don't understand German and thus cannot register on that site. It is only text, so the code could be posted here and there are many free file hosting sites that do not require people to register. Thanks!

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\OpenGLDrivers\ati2dvag]
"Dll"="atioglxx.dll"
"DriverVersion"=dword:00000001
"Flags"=dword:00000001
"Version"=dword:00000002
Just save it as a .reg file and run it.

Awesome. It worked great! OpenGL is now working again! Thanks!!
The only thing that I needed to change was "atioglx2.dll" into "atioglxx.dll"
Thanks again!!
