i have a hp compaq nx7010 with a mobility radeon 9200 & win xp pro. the latest driver provided by hp is 7.98-040120a-014371C B (setup.exe ver. 6.14.10.1002) so i now tried the mobility modder.

i first tried it with catalyst 8.1 - till i saw that r200 cards are only supported by the versions up to 6.11 (but the same error occured as later on with actually correct versions).

then i tried the 6.11, the 6.9 and the 6.5 - every time the same problem.

extract to /ati/support - modify using MM, run setup.exe, installation complete, reboot - and right after the win xp boot screen the screen remains blank and nothing happens anymore. the screen is still powered, but black. i hear the machine work some more minutes but nothing happens - only solution: restart into safe mode, uninstall the previously installed driver and install the old one provided by hp.

any suggestions?

btw. after every uninstallation of the drivers i used the driver cleaner pro to get rid of everything referring to them.
