north/south bridge driver modder
Hi all, I've got a presario r4065ea laptop and iv just upgraded to vista x64 ultimate.
first i installed all the latest updates using automatic updates and then started installing all my drivers. at first the graphics card (an ati radeon 200m xpress) didnt work so i looked around found out about the mobility modder tool and used it and it worked perfectly.(its the latest display driver package version 7.10)
the motherboard has integrated audio that under windows xp x64 was listed as "ati integrated digital audio" and i used ati's south bridge driver to get it working(in vista device manager right now it says "multimedia audio controller" and in dxdiag it says "no sound card was found").
now when i download the sb driver and run the catylist install manager it lists a "north bridge filter driver" with no mention of the south bridge?
and it just has the same problems installing as the display driver did before modding it. it said it installed fine but the system still used the windows drivers after restarting. after more searching a few people said an auto update disabled the sound for some reason. so i did a system restore to just after installing vista and started again with the graphics drivers first. but its doing the exact same thing.
the display installs fine after modding the drivers but the south bridge doesnt and i tried using the mod tool on the south bridge folder but it just says its done in 0 secs and so i would assume its not changing anything. is there some way to modifiy the south bridge/north bridge driver so that it will work like the display driver? or any method that will just let me use audio. thanks for any help, Marco
