Gateway Ati mobility x600 MX7515H

yop people im still new on laptop but i dont know what happen, (sorry for my english, its a little bad)...

i buyed a Gateway MX7515H who have an ati x600 inside.
since it come all installed i needed to format and reinstall all my stuff cause of a virus.

the problem is...
my video memory suppose to have 128megs
i try install xp home edition again and i dunno why the memory jump up to 256meg.
i cant even install ati real driver cause its not support like i need to install the old junk driver from website who been passed date 2005.

i try to install vista on and (OMG) memory become to 318meg.
i dont wanna blow my videocard on my laptop

any suggestion about that problem?
