ATI Mobilty Radeon X600, Very Weird Problem!! PLZ Help..

I have a HP Compaq nc8230, 2.00 GHZ, WIN XP SP2, 1 GB Ram. My Graphic card suddenly started acting weird after I formatted the computer. The drivers on HP website didn't work well, neither did the drivers on ATI website, I kept trying drivers until finally the Omega drivers gave the best performance. BUT, there is a problem that I cannot really understand. out of nowhere, the hardware acceleration tab sets itself to none, If I'm in the middle of a game, The screen disappears, sound can be heard, but no picture, in the display options, the hardware acceleration tab would be none. when I put it back on full, everything works fine. Everytime I turn it on, resolution is 16 bit and Hardware acceleration set to none, I have to adjust it and everything works fine. It happens all the time, in a game, or just doing nothing. PLEASE Help, Any suggestions. Thank you

First of all, if you formatted the harddrive and installed Windows fresh, you may have overlooked the fact that you ALSO need to install the motherboard/chipset drivers. Many people do overlook that very necessary step. So, make sure you've done this AFTER checking the HP website for any updated drivers for your system. While there, check to make sure you also have the latest BIOS update.

Then, after you've done the above, be sure to run the latest DirectX Websetup.

Good luck!

(BTW, since this is a mobility issue, I'm moving the thread to the correct forum.)

Thanks for the reply, I did installed and updated all the drivers for the main board, I also updated the bios, and the Direct X 9.0c for now. The only problem is that the Hardware acceleration keep setting itself to none, I have to keep adjusting it back to full to play a game or watch a movie. I dont know why, any more suggestions, plz.

Threads merged...no need for separate threads for the same problem.

I don't use a laptop, so, we need to await someone who does and can provide some better suggestions.
