Ati Mobility Radeon X1400 driver on a Dell Inspiron 6400

Hello,

I am quite new here in the forum and I wanted to know how I can upgrade the driver of my graphics card on win XP?
It´s a Dell Inspiron 6400 with a Mobility Radeon X1400.
I know that there is a new Cat. version 7.5 out there but unfortunately Dell does not support that :-(.
Do you have any hints without installing any Omega Drivers?

Tried to upgrade only the Drivers (without installing the whole Cat.) but I don´t know which driver to choose from the list.
I could upgrade the drivers with the last Cat. Version 7.4 but this time it´s not that easy.

okay, I was too fast, rebooted the notebook and since then I am having blue-screen any ideas??
Maybe I should clean the drivers before with the drivercleaner??

I'm having trouble updating my Mobility Radeon X1400 on my dell also. I can't find drivers for it anywhere! I tried Cat 6.5 and it says I don't have the nessesary hardware..

All I want to do is play HL2, can someone recommend me a good update? I'm at a complete loss - I know nothing about drivers

so, the install guide on that page says its for VISTA. will following the guide work on XP too? I just want to make sure before I mess anything up.

OK, that's a very good question. Since I've never had to use the program, I wasn't aware that there was anything missing for XP. (Although the Title has XP included.) I'm a bit confused about it, too.

I'll bring this to the site owner's attention and see what's up.

UPDATE:

I've checked with the site owner on this:

This does work with XP. But, first, you need to download and install .NET Framework from Microsoft's Windows Updates.

If you have any problems, go to the Discussion thread for the Mobility Modder.

hi guys, i'm new to the forums.

i updated my driver to 7.9 and the laptop's monitor no longer off when i close the lid. i found out that CLIstart.exe and ati2evxx.exe must start up together with windows for the monitor's to off again automatically when i install the driver but that only lasted for awhile before it's back to the same problem.. any idea what might be the problem? thanks in advance.

dell inspiron 6400
ati mobility radeon x1400 256 hypermemory
windows xp mce

edited: i also tried installing back 7.8 but the problem persist. what's the current compatible driver version for x1400? thanks again.

Hey Indiana I am having the same problem you were I was thinking maybe you could tell me what it was that you did.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 and cant get the new drivers for the ATI Mobile x1400 to install on my computer says "Unfortunately Catalyst cant be installed on your system. Please contact your notebook manufacturer for driver updates"

If anyone can help me out maybe point me in the right direction im getting super frustrated.
