1280x768 not available on ThinkPad with external LCD, even after ModTool

I have ThinkPad T42 with WinXP-Pro SP2 and Radeon Mobility 7500 card, and Sceptre X22 LCD monitor (native resolution 1680x1050) that I am connecting through VGA.

I have downloaded Catalyst 7.4 drivers, and ran ModTool V4 to make them compatible with Mobiliy card, but I still can not see 1280x768 mode. I got
other things like 1680x1050 which I did not have before, so I know the Mod tool ran correctly.

Is there anything more I can do to enable 1280x768 resolution ?
