mobility x600 drivers/ATITool issue

i have a gateway mx7525 (mobile athlon64 4000+ w/ mobility x600). i d/led and installed ATITool in an attempt to squeeze a little more fps out of my gpu. when i ran it, it didn't display the right core/mem clock speeds (it had 0.0 for both). i clicked the fastest core button and the software froze after a few seconds. I'm thinking it's an issue w/ the stock gateway drivers for the mobility x600. i know gateway doesn't work w/ ati to produce drivers so i was wondering if there was another possible solution (omega, mobility modders, etc.) instead of trying all the different drivers and possibly hosing my laptop, i thought i'd make my first post on the boards and see if you guys could point me in the right direction. i did a search and didn't see anyone w/ the same problem i have. thanks for any info you guys can hook me up w/. thanks!

omega drivers should be safe enough to use on your gateway comp, but just to let you know, if you are using a mobile laptop, dont overclock your things. The extra heat that is generated might not be able to be handled by the stock fan.

yeah, i know about the heat issue. it gets decent fps in the games i play, i was just thinking that w/ preformance optimized drivers (stock drivers are most likely power optimized) and a slight boost in clock/mem speed (maybe up to 450/350) i could squeeze out a few extra frames when the action gets more intense.

i rarely use my laptop w/o the power adapter, so the loss in battery life isn't an issue to me. if i get any heat issue i'll reduce the clock speed but i just wana try it out.

is there a specific version of the omega drivers that i should try first?
