Hi everyone!
First, please excuse me for my poor english, is not my native language :-/ Iīve been reading some forums searching for a solution to my problem but I donīt know how to solve it. Ok, the problem is simple: Iīve got a Dell Inspiron 5150 with an ATI Radeon Mobilty 9000 (64 Mb ver.) working with Win XP SP1 (NOT THE BUNDLED WITH THE LAPTOP ONE) and Iīm experiencing some grafical glitches, like blue matrix like artifacts, appearing randomly @ desktop or running 3D Apps. Iīve tried the 2 official Dell drivers for this device (ATI MOBILITY 9000 DRIVERS A00 & A02) but both of them fails at same. Latest Omega Drivers cause my sistem a BSOD just when starting Win XP (tried installing them with and without multires & ATI Tray tools, also activating/desactivating Fast Write @ install) Every driver install cleaning my sistem before with Driver Cleaner Pro of course =D Yesterday at last, I tried to install the latest Radeon official drivers (6.9) with DH4, and everything looks to work fine (the system recognizes the device and control panel works great) with the exception that I canīt run any 3D apps or games cause they donīt recognize the device installed. If I canīt run 3D apps, I canīt check if the artifacts problems have or not been solved. ![]() Please, if anyone has an idea of what to do, or how to solve any of the above problems (Why do Omega Driver fails? How to solve the gameīs device check...) will be very thankfull. Thx for all. Cīya here. EviL |

Hello:
First, I would recommend updating your BIOS if an update is available. Dell is usually pretty good for posting BIOS updates. Second, make sure you are using Omega Drivers (or any other modded driver) based on Catalyst 6.5 or older. Any new Catalyst drivers based on version 6.6 and above do not work with GPUs before the Radeon 9500 series. You could try a complete system re-format / reload of Windows XP. However, if the problem does not go away, it is possible there is damage to your hardware, or your system is overheating. Good luck, and take care. |
