Notebook Display doesn't turn off when closed
Hi,
I got a problem since I installed the Mobility Modder with Catalyst 6.8. When I close my notebook display it doesn't turn off. After installing the Mobility Modder there is no possibility to change the settings in energy options to something like "turn display off, when closed". Has somebody a solution for this problem?
My notebook is a Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505 with an ATI Mobility X1400 graphics adapter and Windows XP Professional.
Thanks,
mrjetter

Hello:
This is loosely related to an issue in enabling the "PowerPlay" and "Mobile" settings in the driver INF. At the current time, i haven't come up with a solution yet. But it would be as simple as editing / adding the appropriate registry entries.
You could try Cleaning out the drivers with DriverClean Pro, installing your OEM notebook drivers, and than manually updating to the newer modded drivers through Device manager. This may keep the original registry settings from the older drivers, but still provide the preformance improvements from the newer Drivers.
Or....if you are really want to, you would need to compare the modded INF with the original notebook driver INFs, and find which "Mobile" or "PowerPlay" settings may be missing, and then add them to the registry manually.
Hope this is mildly helpful. Good luck, and take care.

Under Power Management, Advanced...you should see "When I close the lid of my portable computer..." and a drop down. Lets you choose nothing, hibernate and stand by. Sometimes, mine gets reset to "do nothing" when i do some driver updates. Normally, if i restart, the other options are available for selection again.
I'm not sure if you're referring to this? As I never had an option on my laptop to close the lid and have the screen power off but the computer remain on....however I also don't get much light leaking out when i do so...
I might not be talking about what you are experiencing....

I have this problem with the newer Omega Drivers, but not the official Catalyst drivers.

i read about it in tweakguides.com that the ATI Hotkey Poller and ATI Smart are needed for the closed LCD lid to be functioning properly...
