ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 Help Needed!

Hi,
From looking through your forum I see the members here are very familiar with the video cards I recently purchased.

All-In Wonder TV Tuner Card for Media Center, 64MB, Full Height
ATI / Philips M9- TVT- MCE

Dell Part number N1707 (Dimension 4600)

Specifications:
  • AGP
  • VGA Out
  • S-Video Out
  • S-Video In
  • RCA Video Out
  • RCA Video In
  • CATV In
  • Audio L/R In
  • Video Output dongle (vga/svideo/rca)
  • Video Input/capture dongle (audio/svideo/rca)
I have also seen these cards listed as ATI Mobility Radeon 9000.

I just built a new system and want to use 1 of the cards.
System specs:
ASUS P5P800 SE
Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 74SB 17" monitor
D805 2.66ghz OC'ED to 3.5ghz with intel HS and default vcore voltage.
1GB of Corsair DDR400 dual channel Ram

I have looked over ATI'S site for the drivers with not much luck. I have downloaded some drivers that appear to be for this card but have read that ati drivers aren't the best for this card.
I also have read there was a MCE fix from Dell.

What would be the best drivers for this card since I am using it in a regular system and where can I get the MCE fix for this card? The operating systems I am using is a dual boot System. Windows Millenium and Windows XP Pro. (reason for windows me-not all my programming apps work in Windows XP) so I drivers/software for both.

I would like to get the original Dell CD for the card.
My purpose of using this particular card is for a PC I use for Programming.
I want to use it for the main video & I want to use the TV/dvr functions.

I am on a high bandwidth connection so I can download a cd image quickly.

Your help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
DataCom

Help on Dell ATI Mobility 9000 Setup

Hi,
it appears allot of people are having allot of problems setting this card up. (see link below)
I am looking for some advice from someone who is experienced with this video card and could help me with the information about drivers and the software install process to setup this card in my PC.
I have been building my own PC's for over 15 years. I normally research something like this before I do it as I prefer to get it right and then I can help other people. However this video card has so many people using different methods and versions of software that I don't want to gamble on which process works to get this to work. That and their goal maybe different than mine.
I see where people say they have formatted and reinstalled x times because of
the problems. I can't afford to do that, as my system is used for my business.
I can use a temporary 20gb drive if needed.
I have seen some people say to install the software in a certain order etc.
Then there is the issue of which drivers to use.

Objective:
Setup this video card in my new dual boot system. (Windows Me & Windows XP Pro)
I want to be able to use it as the main Video for the PC and use the TV functions for watching TV and using it for a DVR & VHS tape converter.
Is there any software to use it as an DVR? what about the TV programming guide software?

Threads merged...

Support for your video chip ended at the Catalyst 6.5s. I would recommend getting the ATI video driverset Catalyst 6.5 (or the Omegadrive 6.5s if you don't like the CCC) and the MMC 9.03. Read the instructions on the extra files needed (Direct X9, .Net 1.1, Windows Media Encoder...) and the order of install. Get the video driver running ok first...

Is this card a purchase from Dell or is it a genuine ATI branded card - could make the difference in driver selection...

This process could be easy as pie or a major headache (esp. when doing the MMC install for the tuner portion) - roll your dice, but your obvious research abilities and attention to detail will help - and we're here for you - Welcome to the DriverHeaven forums!

Thanks swimtech.
So far I have the TV working in windows XP Pro but I still need to hook up the audio inside. I think I just need another ground line for 1 of the stereo lines on the 4 pin audio connector on board since my cd line is only 3 lines. Windows XP turned out to be easy install. I installed the drivers that were version 8 from ATI. I also installed mmc-8-8-0-0. So the ATI task bar is there and working.

The only thing that is weird so far is windows me which I installed Omega drivers. I see vertical lines in the dos screen that is flashed for a few seconds after the windows Me logo starts.
After that it is fine but doesn't have the ATI bar nor the TV yet. So the drivers in Windows ME must be wrong.

The video card has a dell part number and has the ATI logos on it.
I now know it is a ALL in wonder Radeon 9000 Pro card.

Yeah, I was thinking it was the Dell card...

Omegadrive stopped support for WinME/98 a while back - I think he has notes on his site about that www.omegadrivers.net

About the grounds on your audio - the copper traces (lands) under the pins you connect the audio grounds to are probably already connecting the grounds together. You shouldn't need to bother unless you hear a hum or lack of audio on one channel. You can check by looking carefully at the lands on the card that the pins are soldered to, or while the unit is unplugged and the audio cable disconnected, by doing a resistance check with a multimeter across the two ground pins on the connector - a zero reading is assurance that the ground pins are already wired together by the lands on the card and it is ok to have just the one ground line connected on your cable - saves wire for the maker of the cable you know...

You might be missing some files for your ME install - double check that...
