My IBM T42p died last month, and they recently replaced it with a Lenovo T43p. It has this sweet ATI Mobility FireGL V3200 chipset, but I am not sure which drivers to install.
I could install the Lenovo driver, version 8.163.1.1.1-060121a-030334C from March 7, 2006. I tried to install the ATI FireGL Unified driver set downloaded from the ATI website, but it does not support the Mobility chipsets. I also see I can modify the Catalyst drivers and make them work with it also. If I'm not using the laptop for Word or Excel, I'm using it for video games. Which driver would be best for 3D games? Modified Catalyst, or Lenovo FireGL Pretty much, how can I get the best 3D GAME performance from this hardware?

good question, difficult answer (for me)
I don't have experience with FireGL cards and how they operate ingame. If I were you I'd try to mod the normal catalyst drivers using the modtool and do some tests. I think the Lenovo driver is based on catalyst and not on unified FireGL dirvers, but I could be wrong. If you need any help, lemme know. Patje
