Radeon Mobility WoW Troubles. :(

Hello Everyone I am very new to DriverHeaven.net and I have been searching for a solution to a big problem I am having. I have been searching for about a week now, and a good friend led me here.

I have a Hp laptop with a 3.2ghz p4 It has a shared vid-ram memory (512?)
It is a Mobility radeon 9100.

Here is the problem. I have sucessfully run games like C&C generals, Half Life, CS, and others with no problem, but when I run World of Warcraft, some graphics just disappear and reappear at rapid and random times... Almost a flicker it is. As I move my characters view around the graphics( Shrubs, Trees, Tents, other players, etc) will disappear & reappear. I believe this to be a driver issue.

Can anyone help me with my problem? I am about to go on a trip to Washington D.C. And would love to bring my addiction with me. It has been eating at me for weeks. Thank You,
Martin

::Edit:: It is a Mobility 9000 IGP

hey there, I think I've seen what you are describing, maybe.

are your graphics vanishing or flickering badly?

Last night I was changing video modes, and one such change was to select 16 bit color depth instead of 24 bit from the dropdown in the video section. 16 bit caused all kinds of odd flickering of distant graphics like trees and where different rocks intersected. as soon as I went back to 24 bit depth it was fine.

maybe you can check that setting

I have the same problem with my Mobility X1600, this is especially visible in WoW, but also in NFS: Most Wanted and Oblivion. I have tried many different drivers, and still have the problem.

Thread i made about it: Problems with Mobility Radeon X1600 256MB

I reloaded Windows 2 weekends ago, realoaded WoW and started playing it again last week. I installed the Omega drivers from the get go, had been using several month old ones prior to the reformat, and the last time I'd played WoW. Never had an issue.

Now, I lock up constantly. 10 minutes ago, I was in the addons section deciding what to load and not load on my Hunter, and the computer simply locked up. At first, I thought it was my sound card, SB Audigy2 NS notebook model, but I've pulled that card so I'm using the Dell sound card now, and the same issues are happening. It's rarely a BSoD, but almost always a straight lockup sometimes with the sound getting stuck in a loop. This has happened before and after installing F-Secure anti virus/security software, with and without Trillian running, w/ & w/o Ventrillo, w/ & w/o other programs like Firefox running.

Anyone else have any experiences like this? I'm running a Dell 9100 P4 3.2 1g ram, mr9800 at both stock and oc speeds. doesn't seem to matter. I'm gonna try the 6.3's now, but if this continues I'll have to try the older ones. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The vanishing and flickering graphics in WoW were caused by old drivers for my IGP320m. I also had distorted ground textures before I updated my graphics driver. Omega Drivers are primarily meant for desktops models, the laptop support is kinda just slapped on. Here is a site that links to the official ATI Mobility drivers. http://www.station-drivers.com/page/...20mobility.htm. All of them should work for 9700 or better. For anything before the 9700, such as the 9000 IGP, i suggest Catalyst 5.13 from that site. And for video playback probelms with the new driver, check the sticky about the IGP 320m chipset. There is a solution for that on page 5. Hope this helps

This is apparently a bug in also the newest drivers from ATI. Some people at the WoW forums have apparently got the graphical bugs fixed by using Omega drivers.

Read from post 7 in this thread, there is alot about it, people having lockup problems and graphical bug problems (black spots, flickering textures, etc): http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...9142&p=1&tmp=1
