Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
Volume is still many times louder than in windows. My monitors are attenuated as much as they can be and the lowest volume in osx (1 bar) still blows my head off. 2 - 3 bars is about the same as maximum volume in windows.
Is there a way to have edspctrl run at startup? |

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
Thanks Eugene.
Me report of b1. 1.2b0: -Music ok, in last betas the sound is a little "crispy" but in 1.2b0 the sound is OK, no kernel panics 1h use. -Played a 5.1 movie, sound is OK, all channels right but get always kernel panic in <1 min. 1.2b1: -Music OK, no kernel panic after 1 h. -Tested a 5.1 movie and NO KERNEL PANICS AFTER 1 HOUR!!! This would be the first usable at day&day. Audigy 2 ZS, Leopard 10.5.5. Thanks again for your work. |

No bugs after ~1 hour of use, Tiger 10.4.11 / SB Live! ct 4670/10k1
this is looking very good. (Not a bug, I know, but I thought it was worth a mention) [edit] I spoke too soon.. sound degradation bug set in after ~90min :/ Last edited by Hagaric; Nov 19, 2008 at 09:08 AM. |

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
No kernel panics for an hour or so. It seems OK. As with 1.20 sleeps to S3, then needs a kextunload-load and the sound is coming back.

Hi Eugene! First of all thanx a lot for your work.
Bug report for 1.2b1: It works but I have no system sound (same thing as 1.2b0), had to switch back to 1.1b0. thanks again and looking forward for next releases. |

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
Everything working wonderfully (no distortion, even for System sounds), no distortion EVER!!!
- except for the following:Volume WAY too loud... Epic fail with starting movie for RealPlayer 11 Gold. Starting movie works fine with RealPlayer 10 Gold (wtf???) World of Goo fails with message "Unsupported audio - "8 Buffers" "1 Channel", or something similar. Uses irrKlang audio... Computer not shutting down fully - shuts down without the kX driver ![]() PS. Using retail SB-Live5.1 PCI and Kalyway OSX86 10.5.2 with Kabylkernel and smbios by Netkas (from the installer DVD). PPS. YOU ARE DOING A FANTASTIC JOB! KEEP GOING!!! |

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
I posted this message in the wrong thread, sorry. Re-posting in the bug reports thread.
I'm experiencing sound distortion/buzzing with certain sound files. I'm trying to play back this movie trailer: Apple - Trailers - Star Trek It's the HD 1080P Trailer #2. There's definately a background buzz when playing the file. When playing with my standard OS X sound driver, it sounds fine. Also, FYI, I discovered yesterday that there was also terrible distortion/lag/sync issues using 1.20b0 playing this same file, but never had time to report it before 1.20b1 was released. The lag and sync issues now seem to be resolved, with just buzzing/distortion problems remaining. The driver is definately coming along nicely! |

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
HEADPHONES: I hear surrounded sound instead of main (no voices when watching movies), earlier I thought it was OK in Windows (obviously I was mistaken as my drivers at that time was CT instead of kX
).My model SB Audigy 2 ZS (035x) 10k2 [d8c0]. Cables are connected in front headset port. Device Manager specific info string is here PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20061102&REV_04\4&585 5BE9&0&18F0 EDIT: Strange thing I noticed in headphones mode is that, all system sounds (stereos) are playing correctly in headphones (which I thought would not play without surrounder/copy or Rear/Front toggle option as they're unimplemented). So its just 5.1 media having some problem...

Greetings from Argentina
Hi all, this is my first post here. I have a Sound Blaster Live! Value. With 1.2b1 I had sound distortion after like 7 hours of running. Still, thats good enough for me!! I can`'t wait to have mic in, and midi!! Keep up the good work!!! Leo4All 10.5.5 |

That would be expected behavior if your headphones are connected to the analog front jack (rear of the card), and the front and rear are swapped, and Surrounder is set to some multi-speaker mode (i.e. > 2.1) with Surround On or Surround Copy (I am not sure what the default setting is for OSX, but I am guessing it is something like this). BTW: With kxctrl, you should be able to unswap the front and rear (assuming that they are swapped by default). Last edited by Russ; Nov 26, 2008 at 05:59 PM. |

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
anyhow "Nope", its actually neither of these. I never got LiveDrive, ...and cables are not connected to rear either. I believe Dell has made custom panel (call it mini liveDrive) it has microphone, headphone, USBs, FireWire and some diagnostic lights. I didn't check the internal cable as of now, maybe it uses aux or liveDrive connection port from inside of card or non. But kX for WIN detects headphone mode correctly! when I plug-in the cable, headphone icon shows up. Results however, same (no voices).
For Windows, In kx Manager, speaker is set to 5.1 + Surrounded set to Copy. Front and Rear toggle is OFF (though, ON makes no difference). If I set 2.1 and 4.1 speaker mode, headphones sound comes correctly but not with 5.1 OSX version does not have any kX manager but setting speaker to 4.1 zucks and not tried)...

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
Did a spdiff output test into my macbook.
Winxp Foobar @ 0db and all outputs in KXmixer @ 0db OSX Quicklook with system volume @ max. Playing same file (wav) No distortion, and levels were similar although strangely, the waveform for the osx was slightly bigger. |

For example: With AC3Filter, if it is set to filter PCM, then it will do its own upmixing/downmixing and routing (of Wave audio, etc), which may conflict with kX's settings (since Surrounder functionality depends on specific routing). If you want to use the upmixing/downmxing capabilities of an audio codec or DirectShow filter (or software plugins), then Surrounder should be set to one of the Direct Path presets, with Surround Off. If Swapping Front and Rear makes no difference at all (under Windows), then the HP jack is either using the LiveDrive connection, or some audio codec is modifying the routing. To rule out external influences, I would try testing using the WaveGenerator plugin or audio from one of the cards inputs (i.e. Line In), connected to each of Surrounder's inputs (one stereo pair at a time). To test which output the HP jack is using, connect it directly to epilog's outputs (you might want to check that first since you need to know this in order to know what your MAC test results (with headphones) mean). Also, when testing epilog's front/rear outputs do not forget about the swap front/rear toggle. Last edited by Russ; Nov 26, 2008 at 07:40 PM. |

Did an analog out test with same file and setup and getting distortion with 1 bar system volume. Max volume is just become noise.
I attached a screen grab to demonstrate. Last edited by TheKezReturns; Nov 27, 2008 at 12:05 AM. |

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
Wierd the attached gif doesn't show up when I click it.
![]() The last 3 are from leopard quicklook. This is recording straight into the line in/optical in on my macbook pro with no gain applied anywhere so analog @ full volume (last one) should be 0db line level and should look like the digtal ones, which are also at full system volume. The 1 bar waveform should be barley visible. 1 Bar means 1 press of the volume up key from all the way down, so the overlay shows 1 bar. Last edited by TheKezReturns; Nov 27, 2008 at 12:12 AM. |

Also, is there a way to mute outputs 1 & 2 and just use headphones at the moment? Perhaps with edspctrl or something?

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
The name on the plugin list is "Wave Generator 3.0", but using Line In would probably be better (unless you enjoy listening to sine waves, etc).
In any case, if you are testing with your headphones, you should figure out which output (epilog pins) it is using first. i.e. (see the pic) http://i34.tinypic.com/n1cbq9.jpg I have the Wave Generator set to 400 Hz. Keep your master volume level low (just high enough to hear it). Test each of the 3 (labeled) pairs of pins in the picture and see which pair (if any) gives sound to your headphones.
