kX does not support the Audigy LS.

: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
Kez: 1820: no, I doubt this is an issue with log scale, because your SPDIF channel is OK.
Please try to check the volumes in OS X, and try to set them to 1.0, then to 0.25 etc.. I cannot guess the reason for the issue, because it seems that on my 1212m it works fine. I guess, you need to try different volume settings -> connect both analog and digital outputs and try to change 'master' level, then per-channel level. Check that all of them influence your results in the same way. Try to use 'kxctrl' for manually connecting and disconnecting the outputs (try to disconnect analog output from the xrouting, try to connect SPDIF instead)... headphones preset: --- 1. kX can detect headphone insertion on LiveDrive external module. 2. kX can also detect plug-in/unplug events on A2 ZS Notebook 3. On certain cards it is possible to detect insertion on the card itself, but the bits responsible for these events are very different for each card. Currently, kX does not handle jack insertions into the PCI card. --- If you are playing back 5.1 content, and it gets into the DSP, the DSP downmixes the audio into 'stereo' and sends it to 'LiveDrive headphone output'. I'm not aware of any kX -compatible device that would have 'headphones' jack on the PCI card itself. If you are using the same jack for 'front speakers' and 'headphones', there is no way to distinguish between the two in software. That's why you will only get 'front L'+'front R' tracks of your DVD, without Center and LFE, from your 'front' jack. There is an option to route 'headphones' to 'Center+Subwoofer' output. ("Route phones to Center/Subwoofer'). This will let you plug-in your headphones into 'center+lfe' jack, keep your front speakers connected to the front jack, rear speakers plugged into rear jack. But you will loose Center+LFE channels. (Please use '4.0' preset for this scenario). (This option can be enabled for OS X by using 'kxctrl'). Since OS X will not allow you to change DSP configuration easily, I suggest you manage all the mixing stuff in software. E. |

. Strangely though, although I can't be sure about this atm, as I increase the volume, the sound level doesn't seem to increase as much as I would expect... another reason for me thinging it could be a some kind of scale issue. Also, this might be s stupid question, but where do I find documentation for kxctrl?

headphones on pci itself? I don't have headphones on pci card itself (though the retail version of pix shows to have). EDIT: nvm... I guess its not that big issue anyways I can always do something (workaround) if I want to watch 5.1zzzz

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
Hi,
I have the same problem as several folks I've seen on different forums, but in my case it's worse beause it happens irregularly! Here's my startup log: Code:
Dec 28 20:54:56 localhost kernel[0]: kXAudioDevice[0x4307100]::init: --- driver start-up, version 1.2b1 Dec 28 20:54:56 localhost kernel[0]: kXAudioDevice[0x4307100]::initHardware(0x3d4b500) Dec 28 20:54:56 localhost kernel[0]: kXAudioDevice[0x4307100]::free() Dec 28 20:54:56 localhost kernel[0]: kXAudioDevice[0x4307100]::free_all() - iKX interface already closed HW: 945P mobo, Pentuim D 930, nvidia gfx, Audigy 2 ZS (SB0350) SW: iAtkos 5i, Software Update to 10.5.6, Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel (release 1.0, not the beta coming with iAtkos) + System.kext. Originally, it appeared that whether the driver works or not has something to do with the tscsync patch in the voodoo kernel (it seemed to work with cpus=1). I've done roughly the following steps (deducing from my system.log), resulting in driver refusing to work under any configuration with the above error (when using voodoo kernel): Code:
1. [Dec 27 17:08:03] installed driver, kernel: voodoo beta, cpus=1, driver didn't start (the error above, just the numbers are a bit different) 2. [Dec 27 17:10:48] reboot, driver loaded normally 3. [Dec 27 17:31:12] reboot, driver failed to load 4. [Dec 27 19:15:48] reboot, driver loaded normally 5. [Dec 27 20:07:06] playing around with Sleep (not working btw.), reboot, driver loaded normally 6. [Dec 28 10:42:17] cpus=2, reboot, driver failed to load 7. [Dec 28 11:18:59] cpus=1, reboot, driver failed to load 8. [Dec 28 11:32:07] cpus=2, reboot, driver failed to load 9. [Dec 28 11:38:24] reboot, driver failed to load 10. [Dec 28 12:00:27] installed 1.2b0, driver failed to load 11. [Dec 28 12:01:53] reboot, driver failed to load 12. [Dec 28 14:45:31] reboot, driver failed to load 13. [Dec 28 14:51:20] reinstalled 1.2b0, driver failed to load - at this point I was really desperate, thinking that I'll never get the running again, until: 14. [Dec 28 18:48:41] cpus=1, reboot, driver loaded normally - now I incorrectly thought that the cpus=1 is the solution (only now that I'm browsing through the logs can I see that it was a mistake). So I decided to try other kernels to see if I could get the best of both worlds. 15. [Dec 28 19:41:02] kernel: voodoo 1.0 (final), cpus=2, reboot, driver failed to load 16. [Dec 28 20:12:25] kernel: 9.5.0 fassl, cpus=2, reboot, driver loaded normally (but since the fassl kernel doesn't contain the tsc fix, the entire system is completely unstable and unusable with cpus=2 on a pentium D) 17. [Dec 28 20:25:43] kernel: voodoo 1.0 (final), cpus=1, reboot, driver failed to load 18. [Dec 28 20:35:10] reboot, driver failed to load 19. [Dec 28 20:36:42] reboot, driver failed to load - at this point, I thought the voodoo final is a no-go, so I reverted to beta 20. [Dec 28 20:45:32] kernel: voodoo beta 2c (from iAtkos 5i), cpus=1, reboot, driver failed to load 21. [Dec 28 20:51:13] reinstalled 1.2b1 (I forgot that I installed 1.2b0 some time ago, but it didn't seem to change anything anyway), driver failed to load 22. [Dec 28 20:54:56] back to voodoo 1.0 final, reboot, driver failed to load, tried reloading on running system, always failed 23. [Dec 28 22:07:41] kernel: 9.5.0 fassl, cpus=1, reboot, driver loaded normally, tried reloading on running system, always loaded normally! - it seems that the fassl kernel is a better match than voodoo for kx, at least on a Pentium D. however, this kernel is a no-go for cpus=2, so it solves my problem only partially (remember? I wanted both cpus=2 and kx ;) 24. [Dec 28 22:14:26] reboot, same config, just to make sure it works. noticed that it doesn't work in the audio and midi setup speaker test, though other apps play normally 25. [Dec 28 22:27:07] reboot, same config, just to make really sure ;) it works. audio midi setup works as well. don't know what changed... 26. [Dec 28 22:31:27] voodoo beta, doesn't work 27. [Dec 28 22:41:46] same config, still doesn't work Thanks, Stefan Update Jan 07: Stupid me - after DSDT patch, everything works like a charm! (even sleep, to a certian degree!!!) - voodoo_kernel final, cpus=2, kx1.2b1, everything

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
Hi,
I'm kinda a nobe at mac so excuse my maybe stupid questions. I own a "SB live! 24-bit external (USB)". With my previos PC it worked fine buth I recently switched to mac (new macbook 2,4GHz if that helps) and now have problems with making my surround sound work. I installed 1.2b1 kX drivers but they don't seme to do the job. At first I have sound in the front but no where else and when I plug-in headphones in the phones-jack I don't have sound anywhere anymore. Not in my headphones when pluged-in or any where else when pluged-out. Can you help me out? Is there something else I need to install? Or change in my preferences? I also have perian 1.3.1 installed on my mac, is that a problem, will it interfere with your drivers? Thanks and enjoy the holidays Martinello |

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
Seems like there is still a kernel panic when I leave it continuously (like over the night or so...) but works as fine as 1.2b0 for me on short sessions (3/4 hours, even better stabilty, still ot perfect though but it's excellent/awesome/marvelous/onderful to be able to use my audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA on a OSx86 cpu)

My Audigy I works flawlessly. Excellent sound quality, smooth volume control.
Problem: the system does not see any audio inputs: "no input devices found". Any thoughts? Thank you. iDeneb 10.5.5 Intel Dual Core MB P5K |

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
After a week or so of continuous use, the only bug I can report is that the sound begins to cut in and out and to flutter like a stylus jumping on a vinyl record when the CPU usage rises i.e. when the machine really gets busy. This has never happened with onboard ALC883.
Could it be that with the new driver the card gets aggressive on CPU time or IRQ and will there be a fix in one of the next versions? |

Warning - Slightly off topic but very important!
Eugene says that he plans to fix recording and power management as his last contributions to this project. However, he did say that he would be happy to find someone who can port the kx api to osx. Anyone fancy doing that? Please check out the post here:- Current status I have begged for midi and even tried blackmail! Comments please!! Thanks, 64bitkit |

Re: bug reports for OS X driver 1.2b1
Hi, couple of days ago I installed RETAIL MAC OS X Leopard 10.5.6 using a boot-132 cd. Obivously, my sound didn't work so I came up to this site and installed these drivers - used installer in .dmg, restarted pc and couldn't see any output devices in midi settings.. tried doing this couple of times - didn't work. Even unloading kext in terminal was unsuccessful. Any ideas why this doesn't work ? I'm a Mac-noob so I don't really know much :P. Any help would be appreciated.
