OSX driver 1.1b1 released (BETA)
hi
![]() 1.1b1 (BETA) version is finally out. Changes: * Fixed noise for 10k1 based cards Features: * 16-bit or 24-bit playback on most 10k1/10k2 cards (depending on card model) * supports up to 8 speakers (configure speaker configuration in OS X 'Audio and MIDI' panel) * should support SPDIF and headphones outputs, if applicable * supports external modules (LiveDrive) * supports hardware volume control and mute Unimplemented: * recording * SPDIF/AC-3 passthrough * 16/24-bit recording * kX DSP and routing, no custom DSP effects, SDK and API * hot-plug for PCMCIA device (Audigy2 ZS notebook) - surprise removal will probably cause a lock-up or kernel panic * any sampling rate except 48000Hz not supported, OS X uses built-in SRC, which is quite good Known issues: * E-mu E-DSP cards are supported, but their FPGA firmware is not uploaded by default. If you are using Hackintosh, you will need to install kX driver, ensure audio is OK and reboot into OS X, this way FPGA firmware will be preserved and you will get audio. * When installing under Leopard, you may need to reboot after you run the installer, because leopard won't load driver KEXT file, or reload the KEXT by using 'sudo kextload -t' command. Download link: kXAudioDriver-1.1b1.dmg Please post your bug reports here. === I also updated our 'Donation' page. Thanks to CEntrance, Inc., the company I'm currently working for, it is now possible to donate by using any VISA or MasterCard card. Just follow this link and 'add to cart' kX Driver Donation item. You will be able to choose the amount of money you wish to donate and proceed to check-out. Russian users may also with to donate by using WebMoney or Yandex.Money systems. Detailed information is found here. And I would like to thank people who have already donated to the project! E. Last edited by Eugene Gavrilov; Sep 15, 2008 at 08:54 AM. |

parts of the Windows version of kX are under NDA from creative, so I'm assuming the same is true for the OS X version, it other words, probably no

It is very strange that you got the source in the first place (from Creative), why will they want to give something important that comes under "NDA" to a freelancer? Could it be that you guys were big time "old" customers or fans of Creative? or perhaps their developers and this project's developers were close friends?

>>parts of the Windows version of kX are under NDA from creative >It is very strange that you got the source in the first place here i should stress that "parts under NDA" does not mean "the source code got from Creative". Just for it to not be read ambiguous (i've already read some funny and sad myths/rumours about kX on that). >why will they want to give something important It's nothing important there (just a few unsignificant docs). Finally, why cannot they be interested in 3rd party development to get their stuff a bit more widespread (even if it's just a little)?

First post says "From" and also "Parts" however you stress that its "not from" anyways, So they are "finders keepers" sort of thing, E discovered it and if other want, they should find it on their own "home work school boys" (as they didn't come from Creative dudes) ![]() Quote:

![]() The "covered by NDA" is a good, simple and proofed method to immediately stop off a quite useless (and sometimes frustrating) discussion on "sources, sources, where're the sources" (while actual reasons are much more wide and complicated than just "NDA" - one (if interested) can search for earlier threads to see).

all user-level components of the driver for OS X will be opensource, GPL-covered
kernel-level components are shared between Windows and OS X (HAL library), and this library is my own code based on Creative Labs NDA-covered documents, and thus cannot be released opensource. and there are several additional issues with opensource development mentioned by Max and discussed in this forum earlier... Re: OSX driver 1.1b1 released (BETA)
...hmmm, still how it must have happened? you signing the docs with CTs? and they allowed you on NDA so easily? was there some sort of qualification test? your credits mention plenty of dudes (incl. CT dudes). It all happened virtually? lol (Russia is far away from Singapore, though emails are not...) Most of all how they trused you

Ответ: OSX driver 1.1b1 released (BETA)
well.. I printed their NDA, put my signature, scanned and sent it by e-mail : )
that's all and they sent me some of their 'internal PDFs', although quite truncated versions certain my requests were ignored, some of my questions were answered |
