1. Eugene, All sounds are "TOO CRISPY" as if people are blowing from their nose (SSSssssss@Peak & ChChchch@PeakDrop)
2. A Stereo (2.0) mp3 file only sounds on Channel 1, Channel 2 and Woofer (Not on Chan 3,4,5) (Surrounded not enabled on default driver installation) 3. Front Left and Front Right OK! (default config) but other channels numbers assigned to wrong speakers Audigy 2 ZS (035x) Pre-installed on Dell (not OEM built) Front Center =/= 3 Sub Woofer =/= 4 Left Surrounded (Rear Left) =/= 5 Right Surrounded (Rear Right) =/= 6 Correct order, Rear Left = 3 Rear Right = 4 Front Center = 5 Sub Woofer = 6 4. Like the previous release, under 48000 hz, 'M','3','4','5','6' is disabled. 5. Sound distortion, Temp work around here (Edit minutes in numbers at distortion start point)Any guys reading my issue here, please confirm these with your sound card model and post with your model name etc (Example: Audigy 2ZS kX SB035x 10k2 [d8c0]). If you have new issues, I will read and edit this post to confirm it. Last edited by Oxtie; Aug 18, 2008 at 09:04 AM. |

Same here; Audigy works fine from back stereo but suddenly degrades at 9 minutes (Leopard 10.5.4). Great start and hope you can fix the time-related degrade.
Gave me new hope for using my old Audigy—if you can fix this problem, I will definitely donate. |

Same as from v1.0b2:
Reporting working driver for analog outputs on an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum SB0350 EMU10k2 in both 5.1 sound config and (simultaneously) on frontal panel line output, on Mac OS X 10.5.4. As others reported, audio gets distorted after some time -- like about 4 mins playing -- but gets back normal in less than a minute if left playing (isn't driver running out of clock sync?). After this happens 3-4 times, sound is completely distorted, and a kextunload/kextload is mandatory. No remapping needed for speakers on Audio MIDI Setup. Quick edit: Audio MIDI Setup app reports output as 8ch-32bit -- wasn't it supposed to be 24-bit?) Last edited by hquest; Aug 15, 2008 at 11:22 PM. |

Hi
![]() First: So many thanks for your hard work. ![]() I have a Hackinosh and just plugged my E-MU 1212m in the PCI slot. It shows up in the system prefs, but I have no output on my analog outs. Wasn't able to check spdif etc. outputs yet. At verbose bootup it detects all the possible channels, but it says PCI does not match. The version of my card is Device ID: 0004 Vendor ID: 1102 Revision 3 (the one with built in Firewire, too) Debug Stuff - LSPCI detects it as a SB Audigy. - System Profiler detects No Built in Audio - System profiler detects Firewire on the Card, but it does not work (1102:4001) - Kextstat tells me the driver is loaded Code:
9 0 0x20d95000 0x3b000 0x3a000 com.kXProject.driver.kXAudioDriver (1.0b3) <68 17 12> - Console shows this error message when Firewire is plugged in: Code:
18.08.08 03:46:54 kernel !! kXAudioEngine[0x2fba000]:getCurrentSampleFrame(): should never happen [fffffc19 vs 12c0] Code:
18.08.08 03:34:41 com.apple.kdcmond[57] krb5kdc: failed to initialize sandbox: Cannot apply builtin profile `krb5kdc': Policy not found Thanks for checking and keep up the good work ![]() Cheers |

By the way, regarding the well known "noise", after inspecting a little some logs, i just noticed that this is what happens exactly some seconds before the sound becomes distorted:
Code:
8/21/08 9:42:58 AM kernel kXAudioEngine[0x3fb1000]::performAudioEngineStop() - 1 8/21/08 9:42:58 AM kernel kXAudioEngine[0x3fb1000]::performAudioEngineStop: stop audio [0; 5555 0] 8/21/08 9:42:58 AM kernel kXAudioEngine[0x3fb1000]::peformFormatChange(0x405dd00, 0x363a3bd8, 0) 8/21/08 9:42:58 AM kernel kXAudioEngine[0x3fb1000]::performAudioEngineStart() - 0 8/21/08 9:42:58 AM kernel kXAudioEngine[0x3fb1000]::performAudioEngineStart: start audio [0; 5555 0] 8/21/08 9:43:28 AM kernel !! kXAudioEngine[0x3fb1000]:getCurrentSampleFrame(): should never happen [dc00 vs 12c0] ![]() Thanks for your work Eugene & co!

Hi, just want to ask. I use to have Linux before i find osx86. There is ALSA Dliver working under Linux. OSX and Linux are both unix base systems. Would be possible rebuild ALSA driver for OSX?
hi runing 1.0b3 driver on SB Audigy Platinum SB0090 10k2 [c400] same problems sound go bad after few minutes - SBLive_reset_workflow help to reload driver automaticly. Applications wich not crashing when reload driver: (Less then sec. no sound, but continue playing.) iTunes, Quicktime, Apps which crash: vlc Multichannel - 5.1 surround: L.Front / R.Front (1/2) L.Rear / R.Rear (3/4) Center / SW (5/6) adjustable channels only 1, 2. At audio midi setup can hear all channels, when I press them. Surround sound works at all players.

Apple Fanboy?

be interesting to see if that's possible, but there may be some underlying extensions that could cause problems, but you have to remember, although they are both based on a similiar code, they are completely different operating systems after all

Maybe OSS can help you, not sure if that works on OSX.

2. This is expected and will not be fixed unless I implement full DSP control (kX DSP clone for OS X). 3. I will update the mapping accordingly. Meanwhile, 'Audio and MIDI' applet will fix the problem (manual reassign). 4. ?.. do you mean volume controls? Volume is currently 'stereo-only', two channels, I will check if it is possible to make it system-wide. E. |

2. dsp, i guess this is going to take a lot of work ![]() ![]() 3. yes, manual reassigning has solved it so far. 4. Yes volume controls. After selecting Multichannel (in speaker config), shouldn't all multichannel volumes suppose to be adjustable? Last edited by Oxtie; Sep 3, 2008 at 08:17 AM. |
