Any gentoo-2.6-12-r6 got 3d to work with ATI?

Hi all,

Im continuing my search for info on those who have a gentoo sources64bit 2.6.12-r6 kernel working with 3d acceleration. My setup is:

HP zv6130us
AMD athlon 64 3200+
512MB DDRAM
ATI Radeon Xpress 200M
80GB Hard drive
etc..

A patch is circulating allowing the 2.6.12-r6 kernel to compile and RUN fglrx/3d acceleration. Heres a few links to the patch:

the first I heard of one working is now a dead link (lenny patch):

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t...-start-25.html

The next thread that gave me a little hope was :

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p...9.html#2667559

And the one I got all my patches from :

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2543715.html <<User JF_cron0 was the post Im referencing.

What I ran into was I got the file emerged and installed, ran opengl-update ati, and then tried to fglrxconfig which didnt work. I went to startx and it had a "no screens found" error. Im thinking it might be my X's version (-6.8.2-r2) but I dont understand that fully enough to do anything about it.

If anyone got it to work, please post xorg.conf and any info that I can use to get this thing working . And out of curiousity, glxgears results?

A friend helped with my install so I do the research and relay info to him.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! The end result im looking for is the ability to play Enemy Territory in Linux and have it look pretty decent. For comparison I can turn up all the settings in Half Life 2 and play it with very little problems.

Thanks for reading this long first post.

-R

Hmm... couple of things on my mind:
1. Can you post your xorg.conf? I'm pretty sure error is there (considering the error message), since you are using lastest stable xorg version available.
2. Does fglrx kernel module compile cleanly?
