Please provide a quantifiable basis for this discussion? x11perf is of partial use - do you have a benchmark that we can discuss around?

It would be nice to see all the feature or otherwise requests rolled up into a poll.

sorry scratch the faster 2d off there..

GTA games cant change resolution without crashing and also cant run with ARB_VBO extension, fps were limited to 36 last time i checked(at 640x480 16bpp since crashed trying to change res)...not to mention the problem with the intro videos which might be a bigger issue (which makes getting to menu a problem)

Appreciate it Matthew.

I thoughed that it was a general cedega/wine/whatever problem. The Unofficial Transgaming Wiki told me the same about GTA III.

Things important for me at the moment are:
  • Getting EXA to work (so hopefully 2D is getting faster - or maybe it "feels faster")
  • Fixing "2D Rendering" Problems like bug #48, #112, #134
  • Fix big crashes/hangs like #80
  • Find a way to ensure that there is no regression like #66 (If I can help, please send me a pm - I am to shy to speak to the big ati driver guy via IM )
  • ...

Ok, that should be enough work until x-mas.

And to the OpenGL 2.0 thing:

Don't take the GL version string as the basis for your decision. That is the basis for the libGL interface. The OpenGL ABI dictates that that is the *only* base requirement.

Just so its crystal clear.

With latest Cedega, GTAIII and Fglrx:

When you put 0sec movies in the movies dir, you get an exception error.(These 0sec movies work in Windows) But if you run with regular videos and move the mouse swiftly while you click twice you can get to menu.

Nvidia cards can go to menu without problems, ATI's cant without juking it into submission.

Please fix this!
