The Linux drivers are far different compared to the windows, they don't have the handy INF files like the windows ones for modding. As for 9500 to 9700 and 9800SE 2 9800 mods you can do them if I remember correctly. You have to go into your xfree config and manually change your device ID, if I remember w1zzard said to do this. I tried it with my 9500NP once, but I didn't bother to check with a util to see if they enabled, but UT2k4 did seem to perform fine so I think it did.

The linux drivers are packed into a single linux file...
find a way for us to unpack them... and be able to edit them
I've been unable to find a way on a windows os....
at the moment it seems impossable
I'm not a linux head how do the ati drivers open on linux? is it just a file you compile or what?

the only way to do this is like above. there is no tools for the drivers at all... right now ati seems to be working on making the drivers work, and work better... but not perform better, that will be in the future. but changing the device ID is the only way to do it. as for looking at the package and working with linux neon cowboy, your going to have to learn linux, if i were to explain it u still might not understand.... it kind of works lke and installer, it extracts files to a location using some options, then installs it once u are in SU then cleans it up, u have to recompile your kernal and stuff like that. i havent installed ati drivers in linux myself tho.... i am going to install linux on my 233mhz cpu computer tho cause the freebsd server is on 100% ON all the time cant mess with it.

Easy man..Just get the rpm (remember, they release for each card series, and currently I see three for each series for xfree branches) and ' rpm2cpio <package name> | cpio -i --make-directories ' and look at what's there. To repack, I've never done this, try http://www.ibiblio.org/mdw/HOWTO/RPM-HOWTO/build.html or another googled site. It's not too hard if you know enough about packaging software I suppose. Hope that helped you some.
That's on a linux system, but if you really need a shell that bad I can arrange for you to use a lil linux shell of my friend's - Just download the rpm, extract it all, then ftp into the shell (or ftp out to your windows box) and get the files.
edit2: replaced the make-a-rpm link with a better one

That's not hard. Most archivers support that.

It seems very possible to me; it might seem impossible only to you.

In ATI proprietary drivers you only compile the kernel module; the rest are only the files that need to be copied to proper locations. Think of RPM as installable archive.
