exclamation Ati driver not working in SUSE

Hi,
I have a SUSE installation with the opensource driver (working but without 3D). All my attempts to install the ATI driver on it failed .
Then I installed it again on a new partition, did all the updates and tried again. Still not working. After installing the drivers, I am stuck in text mode and running startx writes the following error:

Code:
(EE) fglrx(0): vm86() syscall generated signal 11.
(II) Module "ddc" already built-in

Backtrace:

Tried also with a 10.3 installation: more or less the same problem.

I have tried installing KUbuntu and in some clicks I have the proprietary driver working (so it's not HW problem). I'd rather stick with SUSE as I'm used to it.

Any tips, guys?

Fixed

Solved!

The problem was the BIOS

My motherboard is an asus M3A.
I've discovered they've corrected the video card bug from BIOS version 0702.

[OFFTOPIC]

This BIOS has also an useful bug: it let you use your locked-multipier phenom as it was unlocked . This has been fixed from BIOS 0802 (next relase).

So "strangely", my BIOS is now 0702 and all is working + phenom triple core 2,1 Ghz @3,05Ghz air-cooled

Thanks
