AMDs now adopted the Windows style cat name/version system. Here is the link to the latest release notes.
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/ca...711_linux.html Some of the changes in 7.11 include: * Added basic support for new dists such as: Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise, RedFlag, OpenSUSE. * Now works with kernel version 2.6.23 Despite the new dist support still no debs or easy way to install them which means most people (ubuntu guys) are stuck with the old 37 drivers which are slow and dont support Compiz etc... come on AMD, we're dying here. For those who want to take the risk of installing these, you can find information at the link below. Please note normally method 1 (installing the driver from stable) will result in the old 37 driver vs 7.11, so method 2 is best to try... in theory. Main Page - cchtml.com |

There is 7.12 already: ATI Catalyst™ 7.12 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver
I wonder why the X1950 series cards are not officially supported... |

Probably due to this thread
Makes me so glad I've stuck with my x800pro for now it's been well supported with both the fglrx and the radeon driver(s). I was pretty much unaffected by the memleak issues with the new codebase. I haven't upgraded from my agp system and probably won't until spring.. If by then AMD/ATI hasn't ironed things out I'll probably go nVidia
