Issues installing ATI drivers on Debian Sarge
Hi all,
I'm pretty new to linux, and installed Debian Sarge today.
Now i wanted to install the ATI drivers, but im running into some errors which i dont understand.
I tried installing according the guide on the wiki, here is were it go's wrong;
Compile the kernel driver
sudo module-assistant prepare
sudo module-assistant update
sudo module-assistant a-i fglrx At the last step its going to open a new window, with the installer and such. Half way the proccess i run into this error;
Build of the package fglrx-kernel-src failed! How do you wish to proceed?
VIEW Examine the build log file
OK
When i choose this option, it shows me what exactly gone wrong;
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/kernel-headers-2.6.8-11-amd64-k8'
CC [M] /usr/src/modules/fglrx/firegl_public.o
cc1: error: code model `kernel' not supported in the 32 bit mode
make[2]: *** [/usr/src/modules/fglrx/firegl_public.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [_module_/usr/src/modules/fglrx] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/kernel-headers-2.6.8-11-amd64-k8'
make: *** [build] Error 2
Any suggestions on what i should do? I tried to google for it, but i cannot seem to find any solution.
Cheers,
Saint K.
