Personally, I use GAIM

It started out life as an AIM client, but now it supports MSN, ICQ and Yahoo! via plugins. So don't be lonely on Linux - get chatting!

thats an impressive spec list, linux is really quite a potent OS now

everybuddy is a nice alternative to gaim, it offers transparent protocol support
(a marketing name for the same interface regardless as to what IM protocol is being used)

AIM
ICQ
YAHOO
MSN
Jabber
IRC supported.

and I think thats it, it's easy to configure and it's GUI is pretty good.
