No Keyboard/Mouse etc
fired up my Compaq Evo this morning, it got most of the way through the boot process then stopped with the following msg:
'0211 : no keyboard'
and the option to boot or go to bios
I boot, but there's no keyboard (obviously) and no mouse, nothing.
Tried resetting the bios to default without success.
The thing has been sitting next to my tv chair for the last week and a half, not been shunted about, bashed kicked whatever, and it was working absolutely fine about 12 hours ago. All I did was shut it down and go to bed.
Anyone any ideas whats up????

still having problem? that sounds more like a hardware issue. could be anything from keyboard itself, its controller or connectors to motherboard.

that does sound most likely, but doesn't make the most sense. All I did was shut down in the evening and power back up in the morning.
It would make more sense if I'd dragged it to school in btween times, or beat it up a little. I didn't.
can't afford another at the moment. might as well have a go at fixing it.
Format first and go from there I suppose.

when it happened, it just happening.
years ago i used to have a no keyboard or keyboard error (can't remember what it was exactly now),
it happened with 2 of my Super Micro socket 370 motherboards, and i could not enter the CMOS setup program due to the systems could not locate keyboards, USB interface keyboard would not work either due previously settings. i had to send these boards to one of the motherboards repair shop, all thay did are cleaning the boards and that was how they told me so thay didn't charge me anythings. they were good again when we used them back then.

It lives!!!!
Got a bit of free time at last with plumbers and sparky's in the house messing around with the water and leccy supply, so, XP disk in hand, switched on to format it and, it works perfectly normally. I'm typing this on it as it happens.
I'm thinking possible build up of dust that got disturbed when I was throwing it around after it stopped working.
Anyways, I'll buy (well, steal from college) a tin of air and give the insides a good blast.
