Dell Inspiron 7000 Mem Upgrade

Hey Guys,

Friend of mine got this laptop as a gift the other day, and she came asking me how it might run better, so I said "More memory is ALWAYS good." We checked Dell's website, found what she needed (128MB for $50) (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...9&page=external). I then jumped to ZipZoomFly very quickly and found this stick of Kingston 256MB for almost the same price: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produ...ctCode=80309-SO

Sooo...she got the stick; stuck it in...and it hung at the Win BOOT screen. Or at least that is what I've been able to figure from what she described to me (I had no DIRECT hand in the upgrade - I was simply a *consultant*...heh-heh-heh). She's tried it both with and without the original 96MB ( ) stick that came with the laptop.

Any clues?

Here are the pertinent specs on the laptop:

SERVICE TAG: HSZB7

EXPRESS SERVICE CODE: 299-056-03

SUB ASSEMBLY PN: 5833E-REV A02
