Help, my laptop sux playing games
Hi all....
I have a Pavilion ZV5000, and it's really slow gaming on, first I tried to update the video driver to the Omega driver, but that didn't helped much,
so now I want to overclock the CPU to see if that will help, but how much can I Clock it..?
It's a
2.8Ghz Celeron Cpu
512 mb ddr ram
128 mb mobility ATI 9000 igp (shared), never gonna do that again btw))
It's not like I'm trying to play Doom3, Far Cry or any like that...so I really don't get it, even though it's a shared video chip.
Hope you guys can help a noob, also with input to solve the problem without overcloking....
Thanks

lap tops are for mobility first, low power 2nd, performance 3rd
512/128mb shared means you have 384mb system memory 128 dedicated to your video card. Wich is a much slower solution
lap tops don't have as much performance as thier desktop counter parts
nor are they good over clockers, becouse of the low voltages and the the bare minium cooling thats used....
With laptops what you buy is what you get..

Neon cowboy that's not true... My Laptop plays Doom 3 awesome and the benchmark scores I get with it are only like 5% lower than on a desktop with similiar parts. The only problem is when I play games like doom 3 Im out of battery after like 1 hour... but thats why I use the AC adapter when I play games so I dont have any problems. Specs are on my sig.
It all depends on what you get, if you have integrated video and only 384 system Ram then your games will play like crap always it doesnt matter if you have a laptop or desktop. But I agree with the overclocking part, laptops arent good for that.

Midnilux you are right but so is Neon Cowboy, the fact that laptops now have near desktop gaming capability is something which is only very recent and if you look at some of these gaming laptops I would not exactly call them laptops they are more like 12-15lbs bricks, so I still dont consider them laptops until they hit 5-7lbs range. And yea just like everybody already said overlclocking for laptops is big no no.
