Yeap. I'll probably be ordering it within a week or so. Anandtech did a review on them last year sometime and my friend showed me a review in Mobile PC (at least I think that was the name of the magazine). Both reviews were considered desktop replacement, but I just figured they were all good.

Sad Hypersonic CQ-6

Just want everyone to know about my experience from them. Ordered a CQ-6 in Dec with an expected ship date of 1-25. On 1-24, I get an e-mail saying they had some problem with their MBs, and would not ship until the following monday or tues. I e-mail them on tue, and get a reply back from someone named Allison that now they have a problem with the video card, and it will now ship definitely by 2-8, but maybe by friday.

It is now 2-8, & when I e-mail them to see if it has shipped, I get a call from them saying now they are out of the wi-fi/bt cards, and it will be a couple more days before they ship.

I called them back & talked with someone who says he is a manager there, & he said that they would pull the card from another system that was being built for the DOD, & that they would ship either this afternoon or tomorrow 2-9.

This is NOT a good way to keep customers happy. None of the reviews I read from anyone indicated that they operated this way.

I guess I would like to know if they have sent working systems ok to you who have ordered them. I ordered the extended warranty and the dead pixel guarantee. I am about ready to cancel the order and try something else.

Thanks,

RCS

I have a hypersonic aviator ax6 and it is great... their support team is also great. i had some inital problems with the system board and had to get it fixed and they were great about it. they only problem is that they take a while to do anything but its worth it. ive never been on hold on their support phone and they even called me a few times to talk about emails that i had sent

I have a middle-aged GX8 (sager 8887/clevo 888e), I got it right before they switched to the 800mhz FSB...

3.06ghz HT 533 FSB
1024mb ddr266
128mb Radeon 9000
3 hard drives...
60gig 7200rpm
80gig 5400rpm
100gig 5400rpm
and a cd-rw/dvd combo drive
16inch LCD

The biggest issue with mine is for whatever reason, certain textures in a very small amount of games are forking up, I think its the drivers or when I dropped it on a rather hard floor (broke the wireless PCcard since thats what it landed on...) and one of the hinges is all messed up, but I'm getting the replacement parts for that soon...

all in all, compaired to the toshiba i had last that DIED randomly (i didn't even drop it...) and the fact that it has 3 internal hard drives, i love mine... and hypersonic support hasn't given me too many issues. The most annoying thing is that they don't sell the GX8 anymore, nor does the new EX-7/9860 sager have space for more then 2 hard drives... I'm running low on space as it is...

my GF has a GX6 with a 3.2ghz 800fsb and a radeon 9600, it had a small crack in the casing near the LCD display... got a replacement piece the next day no questions asked...

I like the sager/clevo laptops all in all... pctorque.com has them a little cheaper (well, at least their 9860/EX-7 is)

Hypersonic CQ-6

This is an update to my original post lamenting the long delay in receiving my CQ-6. It finally took threatening to cancel the order(actually did cancel it, but then with the supervisor, relented and gave them one more day to fix it and get it to me), but they finally did get it shipped.

So far, I think I like it. Only problem is that its max resolution is so high, you have to get a magnifying glass to see text. However, when I go to lower res to try to get text size up, the screen has large (about 1") of black banding around the outside. I tweaked the display settings and enlarged windows text sizes, but with the high res, a lot of stuff is still real tiny.

My apps work fine and the DVD playback is great. The power block is larger than my old HP and smaller than my old Dell. I will try it out on the road for the first time this week end, so I'll see then how the wi-fi works. I suppose at the moment, it is the best of the ones I have tried.

SPECS:

Pentium M 755 (2.0 ghz)
1 gig PC3200 ram
60 gig 7200 rpm drive
Radeon 9700 video with 128 mb vram

Anyway, that is about it.

if you mean what I think you mean, go to control pannel, display, settings tab, advanced button, displays tab, click on the button marked pannel, and make sure "Scale image to pannel size" is checked...

if that stuff isn't there... umm... then I dunno... I use the omega ati drivers and I can't remember if they would have different menus (dont see why they would honestly)...

I had that problem after i installed a set of beta drivers and it unchecked that and HL2 bumped the resolution down to 1024x768 and there was the black border...

hey i have the cq6 too, identical specs to rcflyercptr. i'm using the 1920x1200 resolution with a 144DPI font size which makes all the words bigger. The building took a little longer than i would've liked but i'm extremely happy with it. its fast and relatively portable, the ac adapter is pretty slim and it was very good value for money. i have been using it quite intensively as my main machine since christmas without a hitch.

I would strongly advise that you avoid cyberpowerinc and ibuypower because they have a LOT of issues with their technical support.
one good way of comparing companies is www.resellerratings.com, where people post their personal experiences with each individual company. it helped me tremendously in choosing my laptop and i hope it will do the same for you

I saw a hypersonic ex7 machine my neighbor bought one. He ordered the 3.8 reg case. He paid by credit card it took exactly 6 weeks to get laptop. I think Hypersonic should take 8-12 days or 3-4 weeks for paint jobs off and put 6 to 10 weeks that is more like it. The ex 7 is nice 4 usb 2 firewire. Only one slot for either soundcard or network card. The touchpad buttons seem nice. I noticed it only has one battery can't use 2 batteries for longer life. One battery lasts 30-45 minutes. It is a nice laptop though.

I thought I would write so it gives people here info on Hypersonic Laptops.
