Headphone Jack Problem

My friend was playing Cs on his laptop and the phone was rining so he jumped up to get it, with the headphones on, the cord got jerked really hard and the laptop would have been a goner if it didnt land on the padded chair. Anyways, now his headphones will only play out of the right ear.(tested it with a different pair so its computer related) The weird thing is its only with music. Cs still works fine and sounds come from all the right directions but music just plays on the right. Any ideas what we can do to fix this?

Im testing it on all the audio programs I have right now and so far the only ones it hasnt worked on are Windows Media Player and Quicktime. I also figured out that if i play it in one of those two and i pull the plug out half way and twist it around I can hear it perfectly until I hit one of the keys around Enter as that is right above the port.
