can I expand [shared] memory on a radeon memory?

If this is the wrong forum for this, please let me know.

OK, I did a quick search for this and didn't find anything...

Here's the deal, I have a 64MB 9700 mobility in my laptop. Now, I'm pretty sure the memory is shared from the system memory. So my question is, is there a BIOS/hack I can download that would expand the memory to 128MB, since I have 1GB in this baby. Is such a thing practical/possible?

Anyone?

TIA!

[edit] Should I also post this in ATI Graphic Cards?

Yes, if it is actually shared memory. It's usually in the BIOS, and for my HP it isn't hidden. What kind of laptop do you have?

actually the mobility 96xx/97xx/98xx don't use shared memory but have their own memory chips

the proof:

so i think you're kinda' stuck with your 64MB DDR....

what you CAN do but at your OWN risk....is to install radlinker & up the memory a bit

i got mine as far as 276.75 on the memory....

hope this helps...

some mobility 9600s have shared memory. They all have different flavors. The trick is to check your memory in windows. Rightclick "My computer" and click "Properties" Then look at how much ram you have.

You say you put in 1gb right? Well does it say 1gb? Or does it give you some odd amount like 930mb. If its an odd ammount that doesnt seem right, then you have shared memory.
