Problems with 4.8 installation

Okay, For some reason, 4.8 is not wanting to install. I uninstalled my old display drivers, making sure they were completly gone. Had 4.8 downloaded...double clicked on it to install. It extracted fine, however when it was trying to initiate, the following error occured:

"Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the required hardware or software."

I have a 128mb radeon mobility 9700
Intel 3.4 gig
512 MB 3200 Ram
Windows XP

Any help to fix this would be appriciated.

You have to modify the Catalyst 4.8 Drivers to recognize the Mobility 9700. You can use our Mobility Modder to do that. Just follow the easy steps and it should work flawlessly. If that doesn't fly, then come back and post here and I'll guide you through a manual installation.

The reason why they don't work right off the bat is because vendors like Dell, HP etc are usually responsible for releasing their 'approved' drivers for their laptops. It's a way to control technical issues with their laptops. 99% of the time the regular drivers work fine though

Alright, I got it. I forgot that for some reason ATI hates laptops....cant install the driver directly from the site. Have to use a modder program from DH...just had forgotten about that part. Anyways, its all worked out now. Thanks anyways though.....now lets see if I can get my display properties back to the way I had them and see if doom 3 stops crashing! .

Well - I find using the modded 4.8 to be pretty useless for doom im afraid. It plays real nice for a variable amount of time before the screen freezes needing a reset. Ive had to go back to older versions to get it running stable (but with poorer FPS.)

Cant wait for the omega 4.8 drivers - I hope they work better
