Do Omega's drivers support laptop stuff like Powerplay

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 600m with a ATI Mobility 9000 and Dell hasn't been releasing video drivers for a long time (fall 2003). So, now I'm considering using Omega's drivers, but I'm not sure whether that's a good idea for the following reasons:

1. I'm wondering whether Omega's drivers support ATI's Powerplay technology? I use my laptop a lot while it is not plugged in and I think Powerplay does indeed increase my battery time.

2. Will my laptop get too hot with drivers that are not specifically designed for a laptop, but more for a desktop computer?

Maybe somebody can shed some light on my questions.

Thanks,
Magic

I recently got one of Dell's new laptops, and the first thing I did was install the Omega drivers. The drivers recognize the graphics chip as the Mobility 9600 (when in fact it is the 9700) but after benchmarks I was convinced that there was no performance gain or loss due to this. Of course, my reason for using Omega's drivers isn't in the quest for speed, but for compatibility... and in that they always please me. I'd suggest giving them a try... certainly nothing to lose. If for some reason it doesn't work out you can just try the latest drivers from ATI and use the Patje Mobility Modder.
