Post your best Laptop upgrades
Hi, it's me. I know it's been a long time. I love you too.
Figured I'd post here and give an update on my laptop. I think the last thing I ever said about it was that it was an Acer that I got for cheap when Windows blue screened while I was doing the first time setup for a customer. It started as a budget (2.5 years ago 500 dollars got you a budget laptop) and is now my baby. Before Intel Celeron M 530 1.73GHz 1GB PC5300 80GB HDD DVD-ROM / CDRW combo Vista Home Basic I've done a lot of work on both the hardware and software of this notebook, and very recently did what I think may be the final upgrade for it. After installing a newer BIOS I went out and purchased a Core 2 Duo T5250 (1.5GHz 667MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache). It cost 30USD, but I'm definitely looking forward to getting it into there. Final Specs will be: Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 2GB PC5300 160GB HDD DVD-RW Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and Mac OS X 10.5.7 The DVD-RW I pulled from my old Acer, the memory I picked up for about 25 bucks using my discount at my place of work, the hard drive a friend gave me for helping him with his PC, Windows 7 is from a Microsoft promotion through Best Buy employees, and Mac OS X is the result of hours of trial and error :P Now if only I could get rid of all the Acer brandings on this thing. It makes me self conscious.

Re: Post your best Laptop upgrades
Is it really cost effective to upgrade lapatops? I was always under the impression that new hardware costed more than the complete item.
