I'm a newbie with a headache!

Hello and thanks for letting me join all of you.

I just purchased a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6898 preloaded with Vista and I am attempting to downgrade to Windows XP Professional. I have installed XP but find that I am missing some critical drivers. Hopefully, someone here can give me some direction.

get service pack 2 on it

Welcome to DH! I've moved the thread to the appropriate forum.

To give you some insight, laptop drivers are typically proprietery. That is to say, only the manufacturer makes drivers for them, making the downgrade a difficult task unless XP is supported by Toshiba. There may be some drivers out there that might work, but it's tough to find them.

My question for you... why do you want to use XP over Vista?

Check your other thread. I made a post with a couple of the drivers you need, and I'll be checking that one for responses.
