Hi! I am trying to downgrade a sony vaio vgn-ar610e from vista to xp pro sp3.
I have succesfully installed Video, chipset, modem, media cards, LAN & WLAN. I am missing audio, built in webcam and hotkey functionality.
I can live without the hotkey, which I think it is going to be impossible to find any drivers for it but i need the audio and webcam.
I used EVEREST and found that my audio system actually has two chips:
Realtek ALC262 @ Intel 82801HBM ICH8M - High Definition Audio Controller
SigmaTel CXD9872AKD @ Intel 82801HBM ICH8M - High Definition Audio Controller
The webcam is automatically recognized by the os but when I try to use it I get a message saying the video device is currently in use, which is not true.
Anyway, I downloaded the realtek audio from the realtek webpage version 2.02, installed the driver and it passed with no yellow exclamation marks. I rebooted and when logging in I get "List index out of bounds (-1)" and no sound. I thought maybe I need the sigmatel driver. I tried at least 15 different drivers from different websites (hp, dell, even
ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/OS/XPDOW...RS/1_AUDIO.ZIP as someone suggested on this forum) and only one passed the installation without putting a yellow exclamation mark next to the driver. Great!, I said, but after rebooting, I got NO sound.
I reinstalled the OS thinking maybe the drivers are not working correctly because I tried with so many different drivers, so I did and still got the same problem. I did install microsoft UAA 1.0b just in case (SP3 should have UAA included) but no luck.
I am using a windows xp sp2 with sp3 and some intel drivers slipstreamed, otherwise i get the no hard disk drive found message during the windows xp install.
All programs that use sound system DO NOT complain about anything. WMP11 opens audio files without a problem but I get NO sound.
Does anybody have any ideas on this????
Should I just give up and stick to vista?? I really donīt want to...
Thank you for your help!!!!!!!!!
