Wink Hi there! I need help to access the hard drive.

Hi there,
I am rather new to this and just finding my way around. I am not a trained tech just someone with an interest and like to fix things myself. I use a mac G5 at home and a rather awful fujitsu lifebook at work. I also have an old fujitsu c-series that has eventually expired. The power point is loose and no charge goes to the battery. Of course someone would tell me they had an important document on it and they had no back up. ( had lent them it when there laptop was being fixed). Have been trying to extract the hard drive but there are 2 flat silver discs that appear to be anchoring the casing.
Does anyone know what tool I need to loosen them?
Sorry have no idea tags and trackbacks. Are they important to the thread?

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

The tags or trackbacs aren't important. I assume that you have opened the panels in the bottom? One of those silver casings has the hard drive. There should be some cloth strap that you should pull to get the drive out.

btw. I've moved the thread to correct parts of the forums.

Thanks for your attention. My problem had been the actual laptop casing. I suppose they make it hard to stop people like me poking around inside- much easier with a desk top hard drive. I have actually managed to remove the hard drive without removing the casing totally. I decided as i was not going to use it again so a little brute force would help. When I located the hard drive it slid out with little effort! Thanks again.
