Need help choosing good gaming laptop
Hi guys, might be getting a gaming laptop and I'm in need of advice on which brand/model to get. I don't currently have any price range so any suggestion goes, and yes, that does include experimental, one of a kind I'd have to steal ones.
![]() Edit: I was thinking an alienware but in a bid to reduce cost, an Asus in reserve, but as to which model of each exactly, I don't know. Alienware generally because of the hype they seem to have generated, though I do admit their rigs are good I've always thought them to be over priced which is why I say "hype", and Asus coz I've heard good things about them. What say you, good dhers? The area 51 looks nice. Pricey as hell, but nice.

Do not go with an alienware or Vodoo. They will suck out all your power and money from your wallet.
Also, wait till they start making the 9600GO/9800GO series graphics cards. I would go with Sager. They don't charge you up the but for little addons. custom gaming laptops - Welcome to Sager Notebooks This is their top of the line. custom gaming laptops - Welcome to Sager Notebooks |

Sager has been around a long time, good quality and support. For a cheaper solution you might look at a Gateway P-FX (I still have a Gateway P3 750 notebook, battery gone but still make ME fly
) it does have 8800 graphics at a better price.

Sweet, nice suggestions, especially the Sagers, had never heard of them in the gaming section before but they look real good price wise and review/consumer satisfaction wise as well. Any suggestions on what good ones one can get with an ATi chipset in them? I thought maybe the battery might last longer if I get one with an ati gpu but Nvidia seem to have a bit more experience in making mobile gpus as they've been making them longer, is there really any difference between these two performance wise, also which tend to be cheaper? It seems Alienware make only NV laptops but their laptops look hella cool. The Sagers are cool also for the customization options on them, thanks SFOSOK, would have missed that.

If I be you I would get nvidia+intel chipset, when buying for gaming laptop pick the best gpu your wallet can handle, then cpu, ram, hd (you can upgrade your cpu, ram,hd later)

Yeah, amd + ati and nv plus intel, that is true, I've always used Ati products till now and some amd processors, but I think I'll just buy an nv plus intel one cos they seem to look cooler, I think I'll just go for the most expensive on sli zone as price seems to be directly proportional to performance.
Puget D700i From what I've read about gaming laptops and advice from a friend who had one a couple years ago they're not that upgradable but I'll see what can be done as time goes on, this is just a replacement as I'm going to be moving around for a while so until I settle down I want something I can use. Thanks for all the replies dudes, they've been hella helpful. edit: btw if anyone has a pudget I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences from you, thanks again. |

I would go with a single card solution because dual cards are not practical. Unless you are stranded in the mountains and want to start a fire on your lap. Edit: Do not buy that Puget! You will be getting almost nothing for 4000$. If you want I'll give you absolutely nothing and you can just give me 4000$

Yeah, you guys are right, I've been going to shops and scouting about on the net some more and I noticed the sagers are actually some of the best priced (and the city I'm in right now is not helping either, in Geneva now and saw a pair of shoes for like 1000 francs so you can imagine
), but I'm reconsidering as I don't seem like I have as much time to game on my hands as I thought, but if I do buy one I think I'll go with something around 2000-2500 dollars instead that makes sense feature wise as well. Thanks again guys, and feel free to keep it coming.
