Latitude D600 hungs when USB device is inserted

Greetings,
After reformatting my laptop, installed all the drivers, I inserted my flash drive then the system hungs, before installing the video card driver which I installed first I was able to use the usb flash drive with no hassle. After installing the ati mobility 9000 driver - rebooted then it hungs again.

Any one experience this before and what did you do?

May I suggest you to check with ATI vendor website to see if there is a new update for your Vista edition?

Did you have newest chipset drivers installed from intel? And what is the driver version you installed for your mobility 9000?
