some Q's..

hi,

i just bought a new laptop and i got a few questions about it, and the modtool...

I'm not such a tech geek, so i hope someone can explain a few things..

i saw that my gfx card is supported..
what significant improvement will i get if i install the modtool?
can i, if i want or need to, uninstall the mod and install my original drivers?

i also have a question about my cpu (amd mobile sempron 3600+), i kinda noticed while playing games, that my gfx is not the problem but the cpu... it maxes out with some games (100%).. i've read that is it possible to upgrade from sempron to turion 64x2? can someone tell me if it is possible for me?

is there any other way to let my cpu run faster? (modding, software...)

the only info i found about my laptop, id on the site from the store were i bought it ( Photo Hall Multimedia - Packard Bell EASY NOTE MX52-F-042 )

Packard Bell home site doesn't list my model, neather does a search in google..

that's it

thnx in advance!

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

I moved this thread more appropriate part of the forums.

The modtool is for modding normal ATi Catalyst drivers to work on mobility chipsets. Since you got laptop the CPU is hard to replace and then there would be the task to find the correct CPU and if I'm not mistaken the AMD's mobile CPU's aren't generally available. So there aren't any ways to make it run faster. And when you play games it's perfectly normal that CPU utilization peaks 100% no matter what CPU you have in use. To make your CPU faster you would need to overclock it but since it's laptop and don't have the same cooling systems that desktop computers has it's not recommended to do.

yes it's possible to upgrade it... but to do that you need to know more about computers.

Mod tool is just modifying the .inf files in the ATi Catalyst drivers so that they can be used in mobility chipsets, nothing more. Yes the tool can be uninstalled like any other program.
